I think with the last posting he's just called upon being consistent, all of us...

Those are not briefings, it's just Garrett talking and some text on a screen. Nowhere near as atmospheric as the movies from Thief 1 & 2. :erg:
Seems you misunderstood me completely before (and ~s:a:n:i:t:y~ got it right). I wasn't saying your views were worthless and I'm not about to start arguing with you. Your opinions are your opinions, you like the game, no problem there. My point is that you go about arguing in the same way you accuse the "Thief 1 & 2 fanboys" of doing: you have your very rigid views of TDS (and Thief 1 & 2 fans) and refuse to acknowledge any other opinions.

I agree with Dia's opinion on the exploration limits that are much greater than in T1 and T2. It is fairly a problem. I can only express my own feeling by saying it is not, because to me it doesn't worsen TDS. But I cannot deny this problem, just like any others - I do not mind them personally, but I also see them and wouldn't mind a fix. :)

I acknowledge opinions if they are reasonable, it IS a problem that you must mod/edit the game to make it a better experience, not everyone (esp. computer n00bs can do that).
Complaining about stiff animations, graphical effects and a bug fixed with the patch is plain BS, they're not valid points. Eg. I would never critize Thief Metal Age becuase V1.0 had this and that bug, but for TDS those kind of arguments are ok? The only reason its used as an argument is becuase it's really hard to find any _real_ problems with TDS.

TDS even has a city to exlore, you can walk into peoples homes and explore them and even rob them, i liked that. But the levels themselves, hmm, i dunno, i didnt think there was less exploration in TDS, but it's been a while since i played T1-T2 so i can be wrong.

I'd really like a Thief game, that was the size of Oblivion, but one huge City with different areas to explore, in a more adult Zelda style, more people to pickpocket from aswell as buildings to loot, secret passages to find, walls to scale and rooftops to travers etc. Hopefully it'll eventually come out or a game along those lines.

Yeah, I've noticed that at first the City seems a great place with lots of places and secrets, but later you begin to feel sort of tight... Bigger and richer areas is what TDS needs badly :)

Cool. I know Thief is Thief and Zelda is Zelda, but what makes a game interesting is the ability to explore, finding different routes to a goal, or sidetrack and finding gold, items etc to loot.

Well, you're arguing with the wrong person when it comes to graphics and such, because I don't have a problem with them. I do think stiff animations is a problem, because they break immersion and make it clear this is just a game (a BIG issue for me, which also happens due to the loading zones all over the place). There something that's just so off about the way the AI move. I never had that happen with Thief 1 & 2.
Body awareness is also an annoyance. Well ok, I'll admit my ignorance when it comes to terminology here, I might be calling it by the wrong word. Anyways, what I mean is that Garrett moves in odd ways in 1st person, in ways I can't predict. Sometimes when I press the key to move forward after looking around, Garrett moves to the side at first, occasionally into light where he's noticed. This due to his body being turned some way I couldn't see from 1st person view. Yay, reload. Makes trying to explore a real chore, as Garrett tends to fall off ledges and such because of this.
Also, Garrett can get stuck on the strangest things, usually something so tiny it shouldn't be an issue in the first place. A cup on the floor? Suddenly Garrett can't move for a while and then there's a big CLANGGGG when that little thing is nudged and a guard notices. Yay, reload again.
One last thing is how you're showered with gold and equipment to the point where choosing your equipment is no longer something to ponder carefully. It just gets too easy when you have a ton of all arrows for most of the game and takes away that aspect of tension. As a result I just try not to use any equipment, which is hardly what the gameplay should be. :p
The other stuff that's been listed earlier in this thread doesn't bother me enough to really notice, but the above are issues that really affect my gaming experience. Along with the lack of briefings.
Ok, so that's a list of negatives. I could list just as many positives, but you didn't ask for those. As I said, I like the game, but the stuff mentioned above is what keeps it from being as good an experience as Thief 1.
Grargh, now look what you made me do. So much for no arguments. I blame the slow day at work.
