As a comics guy, I liked it too.
While it has its flaws, I think it's a decent adaptation of the source material, with the added bonus of changing the (IMO nonsensical) "alien" thing to what's essentially an atomic meatspin.
Also, Alan Moore hates it, and that's good enough for me.

You know, it never ceases to amaze me how the people who yell at me for driveby shitposts and the people who also do driveby shitposts are often the same people. Try harder, Scots.

I agree as well. Man of Steel was pretty good. Not the greatest movie in the universe or anything, but it was decent. Far superior than Godzilla since they give you what you want which is the actual main character of the damn movie actually starring in it, and being the center point of the damn movie. Plus the action scenes are pretty good overall.

Am I the only one who liked Watchmen?
(<---not a comics guy)
Probably not, but not being a comics person probably helped.
(God, the calls for fanservice around this movie. I wager most people doing so were decrying the vapid and base state of filmmaking in those low release months not so long ago.)

I liked the Watchmen movie. I'd always held that the graphic novel was essentially unfilmable, but I think they did a surprisingly good job of mining the source material; better than I'd thought possible, even. The graphic novel is still special in ways that could never translate to film. I think people subconsciously (or sometimes entirely consciously) hold that against the movie unfairly.

I think it's a cargo cult adaptation that didn't understand the source at all, and thought repeating its panels and words would produce the same effect they did on the page (plus some variable cranked ass kicking).
They were mistaken.

I recently tried to rewatch The Watchmen on Blu-Ray after having quite enjoyed it in the cinema. It is a fucking mess of a movie. I'm not sure what I liked about it in the first place. That said, I read The Watchmen just before it came out, so perhaps I carried an afterglow from the comics with me.

I think we either ask for old a fussy or just more discerning. Probably a bit of both.

I'm not the only one who's so drunk that last post doesn't make sense, right?

Ha ha. That went well.
