Since Dead Space is supposed to be in stores tomorrow, I thought this would be a good time to try out an idea. Sometime tomorrow I'll start a Dead Space TTLG Member Reviews thread.
Members who have played the game can post reviews of the game, along the lines if "first impressions" from the first few hours of play, and later full reviews when you feel you've gotten everything out of it you need in order to do so. These can be in any form you desire, as long as the only topic is your own personal opinions about your own personal gameplay experiences. It will not be a debate or discussion thread. Other posts will either be deleted or moved to the other Dead Space thread; replies to reviews included.
If it goes well, we can do the same thing when Fallout 3 comes out later this month, or for any other game, really (even older ones).* And noone would have to wait for me or another mod to start one up. Anyone can make one as long as you clearly identify it as such and request that the moderators do so as well.
* Just keep in mind that if it's an older game, most will probably want to just discuss it, and not read through or post reviews about it. It's useful for a brand new game like Dead Space because only a handful of people here are going to run out and get it in the first week.
In this thread you can either convince me not to do it at all (which everyone may do without trying) or offer suggestions on how to run things, as long as you realise that they will be treated as suggestions. With that in mind, build an argument for anything you suggest, please.

All due respect, I see no point in this; it's just formalizing something a lot of us already do.

No, you do see a point in this. You said it yourself. Formalizing. What you maybe meant to say was that you do not agree that it is a worthwhile idea, which is in itself a valid statement, but not the argument you were making. ;)

Alright let me rephrase.
I see no point in formalizing something most of TTLG already does.

The idea sounds good to me, as it throws some much-needed order into things.
I was just thinking about starting a Crysis Warhead thread, seeing as the only one we have was started eons ago, and doesn't have any reviews until many pages into the thread. If there was a "Crysis review" thread, for instance, forumers would understand we've got a place for aimless chatter, AND a place for specific reviews. (and amateur reviews are often what I look for when opening a thread about some game I haven't played yet)

What might go over better is a clearing-house thread that has links to posts of game reviews and impressions, from threads that are scattered all over the place. And if somebody wanted they could post a review to any game in there as well.
My impression is that a thread of only reviews of just one game with discussion pushed into other threads is only going to be 4-7 posts deep, and those sorts of threads just don't tend to generate much steam, and will mostly just break up discussion on a game in the active discussion thread ... whereas a clearinghouse thread has the advantage of what I think you're really after, which is a sort of one-stop repository of basic impressions and reviews about a game without wading through annoying jabber. Even then it wouldn't be very organized.

Not sure which Digi's posts you were reading.
