The Great Bargain Deals discussion thread is really humming along ;)
Moving review replies to another thread would only confuse and stifle the discussion. Perhaps a better method would be to appoint someone in charge of the thread, to monitor which posts contain reviews and link to them at the start of the thread.

We'll end up with Penny Arcade forums-esque infodump megathreads with that method. That's something I'd rather avoid. I think keeping things as they are now may be best.

The thing is, anyone who wants to write a review... can write one. Like, right now. He can even be a cocky punk and make a new thread for it: "101 reasons why Silent Hill sucks My Silent Hill Review".
If you do make a thread... make sure there's enough people to keep it alive.

I for one think it's a great idea as I don't always want to sift through the banter to find out what those on TTLG with preeminent taste think about games.
Of course, Dead Space doesn't come out tomorrow. It really comes out on the 20th.

As luck would have it, I don't have a network connection today, and worse, no air conditioning either (and was almost without running water... but that's back now) ... just dropping by to answer some messages and check in on a borrowed PC. Hey, cool, no spell checker either. Guess I'll have to wing it. Just posting so that anyone will know why I said I might do something 'tomorrow' and then did not.

Interesting idea. Go for it! :)

Digi, have you considered adding something like this to the main site in addition to having the reviews posted in the forum?
demagogue on 14/10/2008 at 20:10
That would be like what Southquarter is doing, except for all range of games, and SQ works relatively well for what it is.
It does sound like a task more suited for a blog/zine format than posting board, since the reviews won't be going anywhere, and you won't have to deal with stickies or keeping a "table of contents" links page up to date, or otherwise worrying about all these reviews just being lost to time.
Why not make a new daughter site for it like that, solicit a bunch of (trusted) potential contributors (whatever SQ did that got people posting reviews), and see how it goes?
edit: You could also start it off running by pulling some review posts already buried in threads here now and put them on the site (with their permission, I suppose).

Not sure which Digi's posts you were reading.
The one directly above my confused expression maybe...

I don't know how well it would work, but I certainly think it's an experiment worth conducting. If it turns out not to work too well, then, hey, it's not like we've really lost anything.
