I got mine when eidos re-released it right before Theif DS came out at EB. I had always wanted it but never thought I would see it. I had given up on it until that day. I even asked my wife if I was seeing it on the shelf. Now I wish I had bought the other copy as well. There were 2 gold and 2 T2s on the shelf then. It was one of the best purchases I ever made.
Recently biglots got a few as well, but I was only able to find another copy of t2 though. I still keep my eyes open cause you never know.

I think I like 'Song Of The Caverns' the best, too. I really like 'The Thieves Guild', but I always get lost going between the two dudes houses. Those sewers are a real nightmare. 'The Mages Towers' is a good mission, I really like the different mages and their powers. But the towers are really hard, with all those lifts and stuff. It can get very frustrating, especially when it comes to going back down - you just want to put on God mode and jump! :cheeky:
Its the same case here, 'The Thieves Guild' scores second place out of the three gold missions.
I found myself remembering the 'Horn of Quintus' mission on the 'Mages Towers' - mostly because I found myself thinking "Great, I've got what I came for...now how the hell do I get back down?"

I stumbled on my Gold at EB Games in the mall. Something told me to just go look again. There it was! I was lucky enough to find a second copy a few years later (not in the box - just in a jewel case) for my Mom who is also addicted.
I can't really pick a favorite. They were all so different. I think the Mage Towers has a slight edge for me. I liked all the different environments for each type of Mage and throughout the level. There were a lot of places to explore. Theives' Guild was confusing at first, but very enjoyable. I liked the dark basement casino area. Song of the Caverns was a blast, too. I still sometimes catch myself singing Raoul's lament and almost named one of my cats Lady Valerius. :laff: In fact, Raoul's voice has made an appearance in a few FMs.

I thought the casino area was pretty cool too, I loved how the roulette wheels actually had a constructive use within the level - apart from just spinning them for the hell of it. :joke:
Ah yes, the hermit's song. :laff:
I couldn't take him seriously initially, until his rambling began to reveal a greater truth, and some useful maps for scoring some loot. :ebil:

I liked the Downwind Thieves Guild. Stealing from other thieves is just as cool as stealing from Ramirez in the 'Assassins' mission in Dark Project.

So, like - my employer's company went into receivership.
That took up some of my spare time, along with getting a new job,and getting up to speed.
But all is well now, and I am back to playing Thief in my spare time.
So... Thieves Guild.
HOLY SON OF THE TRICKSTER!
This mission was INSANE. I mean, it is ridiculously large, stuffed full of hyper-alert guard/thieves, and frankly, a maze.
Fulfilling all the objectives was a nightmare, what with hidden keys to places lurking about, and look squirreled away in out of the way corners that were Objective items.
In the end I threw my hands in the air and started acting like a first-rank footpad, and koshing people on the head. At least then I could search the place in relative peace and quiet.
But do you want to know how many I had to kosh?
63.
I am SO embarrassed. It took me about 4 hours of gameplay, and I blackjacked 63 people!
I haven't had to play a mission like that since the first time I went through Thief the Dark Project.
Wow.
Also, the mission did feel like a pretty obvious add-on. Like the developers said "Well, as we are adding these two new missions, (that fill out the story properly) why don't we throw in one more for good measure. Out of the story-line, and let's make it really, REALLY hard!"
"Yeah!"

You should play Deadly Shadows. Not as polished as 1 or 2 but its still a Thief game is a damn worthy follow-up. Just doesn't surpass.

Thieves Guild frustrated a LOT of people, because of its maze like layout. Just not a fun level to play IMO. Don't feel bad, not my favorite level either. Gets better after that.

I think Song of the Caverns is my favourite out of the TG missions, though I don't particularly like any of them. I wouldn't mind Thieves Guild being so long and labyrinthian if they'd used some different textures. The secret passages in the fireplaces were really cool though. And the idea of robbing from thieves is great.
