Wow. I had forgotten how sprawling this map was.
I really enjoyed The Haunted Cathedral first time round (I remember buying ALL of the Holy Water I could lay my hands on - I was NOT going to be unprepared for undead now that I believed in them).
This time I bought more rope arrows.
It's a wonderful level, with the story unfolding naturally, and not making you backtrack too far to meet your new objectives. And you can feel the universe of Thief & the City expanding around you as the writers let you in on their longer term plans. It's really nice.
Only thing: the Loot objective is ALWAYS the last one that I meet. I remember first time through, having to backtrack through the WHOLE level to try to find the scattered trinkets in dark corners that I hadn't picked up.
All I can say this time around, is Builder Bless Klatremus, and their obsession with finding every last piece of loot, and then writing it down. Thanks, K.
And so now... On to the Mages Tower!
(excited!)

I can't help but just load up on explosives etc and destroy everything on undead levels, there's something that always amusing from coaxing all the zombies in one section over the same mine at the same time, that or setting up fights with the burricks.:erg:
Did you find the extra terrain they added for The Sword? (I'm under the impression the small/large worlds weren't in TDP anyway)

Little Big World was added after TDP. Emil Pagliarulo worked on Gold and TMA and is responsible for that addition. The addition alone is bigger than the whole original mansion.

I am 2:14 into the Mage towers, and I'm in the tower of Air, and all the way up the floating elevators, and looking down a long drop, and there's NO ELEVATOR DOWN!
So I've gone to read that bit of Klatremus after exhausting EVERY way I know of surviving a fall that far - and failing - and I read that sometimes that part of the mission doesn't load properly???
Please tell me that they're wrong when they say that I have to re-start the level. That's going to completely bust my bubble....

Sometimes reloading a previous save/quicksave of the mission helps, but that requires you to have made one. Otherwise...pop goes the bubble. :( I knew about the bug before playing it for the first time, and made a few hard saves until I could see I was okay.

Boo hoo! :(

its been years since i've touched a Thief game but recently reinstalled win 98 to avoid all the xp crap and started playing Thief gold. Strangely even though i had written a walk-thru eons ago i had never played gold, just T1 without the extra missions.
Holy crap!
Its amazing how much you forget over the years and worse the pretty big new levels have thrown me completely off so i feel like a complete newb. Granted im playing on expert so i cant just kill anyone i want and i'm trying to not just smack everyone in sight but i think i did knock damn near everyone out in the guild hall mission :P
Im doing the mage tower now which is new and pretty big from the looks of it but im really enjoying the new scenery and cant wait to go whack some Hammerites on the head pretty soon :D

I don't want to sound too negative but if you played The Metal Age before you'll be disappointed by Gold. That's what I did and it was a lesson to me, I should have played them in order, since TDP and Gold are essentially a downgrade of Metal Age and about five times more difficult.

Why yes Andarthiel, the vastly superior plot, coherent level design, and more varied gameplay of the first Thief forever doom it to inferiority.

And since when was difficulty a bad thing in a thief level?
