I submit, your honour, that it is at least one iota more hilarious that dethwub thinks Stitch thinks he was being serious.

Um, Gone Home is a pretty interesting game with lots of subtle details to interpret and discuss. Can we stop insulting each other and instead start discussing the thread's topic?
I'm curious... Stitch & PigLick (and anyone else who has played and "finished" the game): Did you figure out the tragic secret in Terry's past? Many people haven't, but I'm eager to discuss it and how it relates to Sam's actions towards the end of the main plot. So if you haven't yet, go figure it out and come back so I have someone to talk to. ;) Or if you have, mention it in a spoiler tag, and I'll share my thoughts and questions.

[edit] Screw it. There was a post here but I am
not interested in getting sucked into the Subjeff vortex yet
again. You bore me with this stupid "you missed his super-secret commchat joke lolll" meme that everyone likes to use to justify being a dick to me (and only me) and I'm not engaging you.

Aaaaaaaaand...
relax.

Sorry, sugar cookie, but you don't get to say shit like that to me and then tell me to relax. You don't, you just don't. Stop. I'm not going to put up with shit from a child molester.
june gloom on 21/8/2013 at 21:58
Oh, you're not a child molester you say? Oh, I was just joking! Calm down! Relaaaax!
I'm done with this thread.

Twist, I will have to play it again now, because I am pretty sure I missed some of the Terry and Oscar story, I didnt realize the game was going to end so suddenly like that. I never opened Terrys' safe :(
Also pretty sure the house was used for some kind of bootlegging operation during the 30's? Anyway will come back to this when I have uncovered everything.

Everything I've heard about Gone Home tells me that it's a decently told story told through exploration and object interaction, which is nice I suppose, but doesn't strike me as extremely special or interesting like, say, KRZ. I guess it's fuelled quite a bit by the nostalgia bug, too. What's the compulsion factor to play, gents?

You've pretty much answered your own question. "It's a well made hamburger, which is nice I suppose, but I'm a vegetarian, so tell me what's supposed to be appealing about it." There aren't all that many games that tell stories well through exploration, and there are even fewer of those that do it in this sort of setting. We play on alien planets and fantastic worlds all the time; every now and then the familiarity that comes with a domestic setting is effective exactly because it is so rare.
