Fallout 3's weird '50s look
You mean the look that started with FO1 and that Fallout 3 stuck to like glue?
I replayed BS a few weeks ago, and I replayed SS2 a few months ago. To tell you the truth, I actually kinda prefer BS more now. It may be because I've played SS2 to death, but while it has somewhat of a deeper, creepier story, when you boil it down it's pretty much generic "hard" sci-fi. Bioshock does something rather different, and to be honest while many of my problems with BS (outside of technical issues) the first time I played remained for my second playthrough, it was a lot easier to ignore them. Part of that may be because the game wasn't crashing or locking up every half hour. I only wish they had retained their more creative use of lighting and enemy placement they had in that old E3 video. Also, fuck Apollo Square. Seriously. Fuck that part of the game in the ass.

Would you/someone mind explaing the term 'hard sci-fi', please?

Hard sci-fi has more emphasis on science rather than fiction. Hard sci-fi generally tries to make the science look believable and not just a plot device.

Creepier? You certainly could have found SS2 creepier as it depends on personal fear, but in my case I only find the beginning creepy, after that I didn't care. (I guess I should point out I didn't find BioShock creepy either.)
Deeper? What are the differences? In my point of view both are equally shallow. (Although to be honest I've yet to see a video game with a deep story.)
As for the "hard" science-fiction part... No it wasn't. It was the generic horror story within a science-fiction decor, not hard science-fiction.

That's what I mean. The story could've come out of any generic sci-fi novel in the last 30 years. 40, if you discount the cyberpunk.
Though I appear to have misunderstood the meaning of the term "hard sci-fi", when I was actually trying to refer to what I just said- generic sci-fi. I guess I was referring to some peoples' views of sci-fi as being entirely influenced by Star Trek, and since they don't like Star Trek, and since they seem to think that all sci-fi is like Star Trek, they don't like sci-fi. Star Trek is pretty much what most people probably think of when you say "sci-fi".
The rest of your points are entirely subjective, however. I'll let someone who gives a shit start a fight with you on those.

Ya that. Meh. I like STALKER's eastern apocalypse look a lot more.

Don't let NMA hear you say that. They think they own the 1950s.

So rumour has it that 2K Boston's next project might be Spec Ops, a shooter that will reportedly be announced at the SpikeTV Video Game Awards.

Anyway, a (

I really don't know what to make of this if the reports are true. After the success of BS1 one would assume that Levine would have carte blanche to make an ambitious vanity project, but makes another military FPS instead.
Mind you Irrational did a terrific job with SWAT 4. It'd be impressive if they could pull off a similar in-depth and realistic tactical FPS on consoles, without making it arcadey for the mass market. No checkpoints, random generated mission encounters (like SWAT), etc. As for the lack of keys on a gamepad, I suppose that they could compensate with radial menus, assignable hot keys and voice command.

Bjork's song makes this trailer even more terrible, what the hell is it doing in it anyway...

How is it any worse than having Eminem in the last CoD:MW2 trailer?
