Well yeah, every hate/anguish filled argument that is related to software or software producers is nerd rage. In every other department it's just hate/anguish. Perfect logic.
It's the internets I suppose...
Meh, I'm just waiting for the second installment of BS to hear more from the SS fans complaining about it.:cheeky:

*Eats popcorn as he watches fanbois and haters fling poo over the place*The funny thing is I don't even particularly like Bioshock and think its gameplay at least is essence of mediocrity. It's the "all I wanted was a decent game but instead Ken Levine touched me in my special place" rubbish I just don't get.

Ken's a bit of a tragic figure to me. The idealistic face of ambition and hubris in a text book case of selling out that "worked" as well as they ever do (it sounds harsh but it's pretty dead on when you think about it).
To a degree I think he was caught up in an industry wide marketing trend attempting to create a Cult of the Developer along the lines of the auteur film directors of old. How willing a participant he was in all this I don't know (I suspect fairly. He's not a complete idiot. I'm hoping a little naive though).
I think for his own sake he ought to keep his head down a bit next time, if he can.

I don't have any special hatred for Ken (just the general kind) but it's pretty douchy the way he played up BioShock to this particular community, then disappeared without so much as a hand-wringing apology when all his assurances turned out to be false. It's nothing personal, but it does say something about a man's character when he can't even be bothered to own up. The same can be said about Warren Specter - it has little to do with "they made disappointing games" as much as it has to do with feeling like we were purposely hoodwinked so we wouldn't make noise prior to a game's release.
Or it could just be that he touched me in my special place. OH THE LIES!!!!:mad:

Show me on the Big Daddy where he did it.

2K Boston's new game is reportedly a "shooter" that's "more ambitious than Bioshock".
Works for me. Bioshock ultimately didn't quite bring the goods but I overall found it well worth the price of admission.
Also: rereading this thread is a good reminder of how batshit otherwise reasonable people in this forum get when Bioshock or Ken Levin is mentioned!

It's all a bit unreal isn't it?
I to was somewhat disappointed in BS, but ultimately only
somewhat.
No, it wasn't as good as SS2, (which I finally got working on Vista :D), but it's a fuck of a lot better than most games.
Reasonable people? Here on ttlg? Haha!
Surely I jest. Actually most people here are  and would never pick a fight with another member.

It still drives me insane with rage. Well disappointment perhaps and perhaps not so insane. The sad thing is the vision seems to be there. AND the means. Why oh why can't people put it all together? For my part there were bits of BS that were amongst the best examples of their type in gaming. The 4th wall breaker had me laughing out loud and, as I had been a little disappointed til then, set me up for further disappointment because I thought "That was great. What awesomeness will the have for me next?". None.
I think I'm through with looking forward to games though. I get a little bit interested but not too much and I don't know how much BS has contributed to my game lethargy but I suspect some.
