Dude, there is nothing, repeat nothing, wrong with not having played SS2.
What is amazing is that you were such a solid supporter of BS
against people who disliked it because it didn't live up to its "SS2 successor" promise when you had no frakking idea what they were on about. You are... an idiot of massive cocklike proportions.
Really.
just wtf dude, w.t.f?

While I didn't think Bioshock was the all out disaster that some thought it was, I was still disappointed and thought it was only average. And anyone who thinks Bioshock is actually better than SS2, well, they need to have their TTLG membership revoked, or at least be confined to CommChat for eternity.
So... when do I leave into CommChat exile?
No really, when?

But I did play SS2 almost immediately after Bioshock, so there wasn't a great deal of time where I was here discussing the latter without having played the former. But what difference does that even make? My expectations were low based on gaming's general climate,
obivously not based on a game I hadn't yet played.

...I was on all fours struggling to finish my first (and likely the last) runthrough of Bioshock.
I've found it's easier to play while sitting. ;)

All the difference.
You were arguing with us when you knew about the origin of our perspective and knew you lacked it. Its like me arguing with someone about how good a Scotch is when I've just tried it. Because I don't drink it and that would be stupid.

Agreed. IMO SS2 is the sum total of LGS's talents. So brimming with ideas was this game that it was all over the place - jack of all trades, master of none at T.Smith correctly said.

What you're saying amounts to "I'm not you, therefore I shouldn't argue". The whole point of debate is that people with different perspectives try to convince each other of their own. You say SS2 is important, I say here am, enjoying this anyway. That doesn't invalidate my arguments, and it certainly doesn't make me a massive cock or whatever it was. A first-time scotch drinker might not understand the nuances of scotch but he can still have a valid opinion. That analogy doesn't really work, though. It would if we were talking about a first time SS2 player vs a veteran.
But as far as that goes, I did play SS2, twice, and my opinions of Bioshock didn't change.

I'm the only person so far itt to not say massive cock so there you have it.

Which is of course is exactly what everyone is saying when they criticize the game or the publicity that accompanied it. Or it could be possible that people can state their opinion and observations of the whole thing without being either a fanboy or a homicidal maniac. I'm just saying it's
possible.
Possible, yes. And there are certainly legitimate complaints against the game, a lot. But most of the time the arguments I see in favour of SS2 over BS consist of fanboyish ramblings that more than remind one of NMA.
I like System Shock 2, I really do. Fantastic story, atmosphere, intelligent ideas. It's a landmark title. I think I can speak for some around here though when I say it gets irritating when no one can so much as mention one positive aspect of BioShock without someone else bashing them. Most of the time it isn't "sharing opinions and observations". It's "People who like BioShock at all are idiots." As I recall the same thing happened when Deadly Shadows came out though, so it seems to be the natural course of things.
