*Natural Selection - love/hate
*TF2 - Kind of sorta getting back into this one
*Red Orchestra - Found a good bit of servers where people either talk little or not at all.
*Quake Wars - Good communities for the most part.
*Age of Chivalry - Good fun but SO MANY TKs.

dethtoll/matthew: Let me ask you two a simple question, what's gonna happen if they do include 2-player in a patch? Will you stop playing because how insulted (or confused) you would be by this? Would it make you angry that people would be allowed to play 2-player? I really don't get WHY you get so upset/confused (or what the fuck you are) by this, to me, very simple wish.
To me it seems like YOU are the ones that are bitching without really having anything to say. No, i don't think the "but but there's a 4 in the title" or "but but but it's 4-player, how could it be 2-player when they made it 4-player it would be too difficult, other titles has 4-player mode-only too!" counts as valid arguments, since its waaay too retarded to be taken seriously.
It's the very definition of bitching. You're just not gonna win this argument, try to get that through your thick skulls and accept it. Also, you're really really bad at trying to act like you don't understand how utterly defeated you are, every time you continue with name-callings or even make a new post about how i should stop (and no other arguments) just makes it more obvious.
And matthew, that has not been my only argument, but i had to say it because after a while you really proved to me that you indeed arent that bright. It was a vaild statement.

Can't you just murder the two AI characters before leaving the safe room?

It has been your only argument towards me, actually.

And now you've proven you can't read either, i'll quote myself "It could still involve 4 different characters (maximum) but have 2-players as an option too, it would'nt be too much of a stretch in regards to the title." That is what i said to you.
I havent even called you "retarded" I made a litte joke about how you would be too confused to play it if it was 2-player. The retard-remark was directed to dethtroll, which i also clearly stated so you wouldn't miss it, but i guess you did (the reading thing again i guess?).

I havent tried! Maybe the AI-director is that smart (to balance the game accordingly)?? No idea (we're probalby gonna get kicked out of the game by the AI to the sound of a dark, menacing voice saying "It's called fucking left
4 dead you fucks!!! get out of my game!!" ;)
Gonna try the next time for sure :D Thanks for at least 1 helpfull post in this mess of a thread ;)

vurt, it's not just about rebalancing the amount of zombies; the special infected have been designed specifically with 4 survivors in mind as well, and with only 2 players, one well placed Smoker could ruin your day pretty quickly.
And for the life of me, I can't see why you can't just be happy playing 2 players and 2 bots. It works perfectly well up to Advanced difficulty, and they only become a liability on Expert, when placement during crescendo events is essential.

I've never said it's only about rebalancing the amount of zombies. Other things probably would have to be tweaked too, such as the health of the player so things like the above doesnt happen too often (once in a while is cool though, i have nothing against high difficulty).
2-player would make the gameplay a little different (tougher + you'd REALLY have to depend on each others). It would be a nice as little diversion from the 4-player gameplay. 2-player (or even 1 player) is also more atmospheric than 4-player imo, especially in horror games. 1 friend is also easier to find than 3.. I'd love to have the AI out of the way when i play co-op.

Like they say though, the entire way the game works is based around there being 4 people: having twice as much health (or hell, eight times as much health) is no use if one of you is pinned by a hunter and one is nabbed by a smoker. It simply means it'll take slightly longer for you both to die.
Four people means (usually) there is AT LEAST one person free to assist people who are powerless to help themselves, and the game has quite a few instances of 'situations wherein you are powerless to help yourself'.
Losing a single person makes things tricky, and if you lose two, no matter how much health you both may have, there are a ton of ways you can get frustratingly ...borked, basically. Gimped into a situation where you can do nothing but watch yourself die.
Not to say that 2-man couldn't work, necessarily, but it would require a hell of a lot of tweaking to stay balanced and fun, and I can't help but think you'd find the experience cheapened by the necessary behind the scenes zombie nerfing.
Still: kill the two AIs, and see how it goes!

Quite obviously they could make the game more forgiving and make those spawn 1 by 1 instead. It's those kind of tweaks i'm talking about, i don't see how it can be so hard to think outside the 4-player balancing of the game? It's more like you're trying your best not to.
