Good riddance
Next, O'reilly
He is actually nowhere near as bad as Limbaugh or Hannity. As long as there are megabucks corporations there will be those willing to sell thier souls and spout any outrageous lie for some of that sweet poisonous green.
We haven't seen the last of Beck. Once a mouthpiece of the uber rich, always one. He may even run for president. Don't think it absurd. The Donald is. They are so heartened by the fact they can fool angry old people into giving up thier medicare while maintaining tax breaks for oil companies and blaming Obama for the rise in gas prices simultaneously that they sling spittle and look for the next ridiculous tune to make the tea party dance to. Sort of a St. Vitus dance of rabid idiots.

Speaking of Limbaugh: There's an educational series called (
http://www.learner.org/resources/series44.html)
News Writing, sort of a video classroom for reporters, that was produced by a professor at a college in my area. In one segment there's a snippet of an interview with Limbaugh where he claims that he deliberately exaggerates his positions to try to force people to think.
Yeah, I don't really believe it either.

He blatantly states in his first book that he doesn't believe in hardly anything he says, that it's a character for the radio show.
Which makes me wonder--all his followers that bought his book, did they not read the damn thing?

I've noticed that about him for awhile. He usually does a pretty good job of sticking to GOP hyperbole, but every so often he'll goof and drop a statement thats not congruent with his talking poitns. One area, for example, is how he treats big business. Usually he regards every attempt to keep taxes high on "big business" as an attack on capitalism, but every so often he'll let something slip that indicates that he's got a very different opinion on that. For example, one time it was on at work I heard him make some comment about the unprecedented donations Obama got from Wall Street, but quickly corrected himself later in the show by ranting about how Obama was "trying to destroy banks".
He's little more than stooge for corporate America. Well, that and he has some pretty funny temper tantrums at times.

http://i785.photobucket.com/albums/yy139/jfoahs04/Rednecklaws.jpgWhy do I hate Glenn Beck and his ilk? While they purport to be "conservative", the reality is that all of them would rejoice if the United States became an authoritarian country. Just so long as it matched their own ideological bent, of course. Compare that to Ron Paul's position on Marijuana. While he dislikes weed personally, he doesn't think thats enough reason to ban it.

I once read a great quote along the lines of "arguing with Fox News anchors is like playing chess with a pigeon. It knocks the pieces over, shits on the board, then flies back to its roost to claim victory." :p

Sometimes @ my last job, I would put AM radio on in the background. It kept the dogs a bit more relaxed hearing human voices, too. Since the kennels were in a steel building, AM was all I could get. Well, between 9 and noon Mr. Beck was on.
Now, immediately after 9/11, I was all for his schtick. I was blinded but hatred for our enemies and didn't see the ones immediately in front of my face were far more deadly for America than a hijacker. I paid him 1/2 a mind for a few years, balancing him with Dennis Miller right afterwards. Then, I really noticed something; he became a preacher. He could go on for an entire 3 hour broadcast about God. It was like listening to a church station. I believe Glenn is a Mormon, iirc. That's when I couldn't even bear to have it on in the background anymore.
I haven't tuned into his Television program, but he promoted the Hell outta it on his radio broadcast, giving a run down of that night's agenda so I have an idea what angle he was going for in that format. I also heard a rumor on the radio last week that he has aspirations to get a dedicated Glenn Beck cable channel, similar to what Oprah Winfrey did launching OWN. Good luck with that, 24 hours of Beck and Beck-clones and yes-men? No thanks. I'd rather watch reruns of Dr. Phil on OWN. :D

So its OK for Obama to be a Muslim but not for Beck to be a Mormon? Stupid Progressives these days..... :sly:
Really, though, I'd highly discourage listening to Beck on the AM Radio. You can find much more reasonable and intelligent talkshow hosts (including much smarter conservative ones) than Beck/Hannity/Limbaugh by using internet radio.
