Well, it's about god damn time someone got EA to slide its monstrous tush off those properties, blow the decades' worth of dust off, and rerelease the damn things to the public. :/

@Thirith: I heard about EA's Ultima IV smackdown, and I hope that whatever they're planning isn't an Ultima IP resurrection, because good god did you see what they (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/wing-commander-arena-review) did the last time they touched an Origin franchise

Didn't they just launch this browser-based, Ultima-in-name-only game called (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/04/06/my-lord-lord-of-ultima-launched/) Lord of Ultima? To be honest, I don't think there's much of a chance of EA releasing a game that recaptures the spirit of games such as Ultima VII or Martian Dreams.

Well, to be fair, there hasn't been anybody who's ever made a game that recaptures the spirit of those two. Not even Origin before it went under.

GOG announced today they've done a deal for 25 games from a new publisher, but they didn't specify who it was or what the games would be. However, they have released two "new" games today - (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/alone_in_the_dark) Alone in the Dark 1+2+3, and (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_witcher) The Witcher.

Is it the CD version of AitD with voices and everything?, I hope so....I do love me the somewhat cheesy, but oh-so-entertaining voice overs from the readables. Also, Carnby's intro is so much fun with his tired sarcastic voice :D

I don't know for sure, but my guess would be yes, because it includes the Jack in the Dark promo game which was available on the CD versions of AitD 1 and 2.
I'm pretty psyched about that release; I haven't played AitD 1 in years, and I've never played 2 or 3.

It seems a bit perilous to announce names that haven't actually signed an agreement yet, but then GOG do seem to enjoy taking risks.
