It seems a bit perilous to announce names that haven't actually signed an agreement yet, but then GOG do seem to enjoy taking risks.
They're probably just "haggling over price" to borrow a phrase. In other words, the publishers are probably on board, but the final details still have to be worked out. I imagine even GoG wouldn't have announced that they were coming if they weren't certain of it.

What's this about EA getting tough on sites that host Ultima IV?
EA gave UIV away for free several years ago as an anniversary celebration thing (IIRC); some sites are still giving it away, which EA is not happy with as they apparently meant it to be a limited-time thing.

Not claiming to be any business or marketing guru, but perhaps announcing that is aiming to generate a bit more hype, showing numbers on some chart somewhere spiking, and use that as another argument to convince the publisher(s) to jump on board?

This is probably well-known among this crowd, but a superior port of SC2 has been freely, legally available for a long time in the form of (
http://sc2.sourceforge.net/) The Ur-Quan Masters.

So my last two retro games purchases were duds. Stranger's Wrath hasn't done anything for me. Yeah, I know. VA recommended I slog on through, because it gets better later on. But right now, I ain't feeling it. Realms of the Haunting? Awesome for the first 5 minutes, then I went into a lava filled basement, and all the atmosphere got sucked out of it like slurpee through a straw.
These are games that should've been awesome. I loved Abe's Oddyssey, and RotH looked like one of those great old 90's adventure games that's awkward to play, but dripping with so much greatness, you can look past it's flaws. I should've loved both of these, but I didn't.
Now GoG has Desperados up for sale. It looks cool as hell, and I'm considering getting it. But damnit, after my last two purchases, I don't trust my own judgement anymore. So I'm here to ask you all.
Is Desperados any good?

I'm told it's very much like Commandos, so if you ever played a Commandos game and didn't enjoy it, you most likely want to keep away (and probably vice versa).

It's fantastic. It's also much better than any Commandos game, in my opinion. I gush about it and its sequels in some of my past posts.
You've got to have patience and like westerns at least a bit though.

Do a search for that game on GenGaming. We JUST talked about it a month or two ago, so you can see some opinions on it if you'd like.
