Screamer? I can't help but think that the sequels were probably better, and I have those.
That forgettably average game actually had fans? I always saw it as more of a tech demo for 3Dfx Voodoo cards.

Screamer was an arcade-style racer...perhaps a little shock in PC sim-obsessed world back then. Nothing big, but I had fun with it (even un-accelerated). It was less stiff than the-then iteration of NFS...
Gog is great I guess, but their marketing tactics are often excruciatingly lame, as are the tactics with expansion packs and such. Sure I know you`re trying to make some mullah, but still. Also manuals are not "extras", ok? ;)
And while I`m bitching, stop sending me Weekend Promo emails on Sunday evening okay? Sort of defeats the purpose, this.

Jesus Christ, that "going out of beta" troll downtime was like the worst idea ever.
Also their viral marketing has been absolutely dreadful. Did you see the shitty webcomics they were putting up leading to the EA catalogue acquisition reveal?

You mean with the recent EA games? Surely that's some fascist term of their license with EA? I'd imagine that it's out of their control. Hopefully they renegotiate the agreement to get the missing ex-pacs, which they'll probably give to existing owners for free, like they have in the past (eg giving away Broken Sword 1 vanilla to owners of the DC remake; bundling Betrayal in Antara w/ Betrayal at Krondor).

Indeed, it's the worst marketing scheme I've seen a company do. Well, that and the Daikatana advertisements...
Has anyone played the new game, (
http://www.gog.com/en/news/new_release_litil_divil) Litil Divil? From what the GOG Forum says, the original players found it very hard, so I might skip it as I'd rather have some quick easy game for stress-release at the moment.

Loved it, played it to death [Screamer] - and I say that not as a 3Dfx fanboy, because I only every played it with the software renderer in 320x240.
The sequel which was more rallyish, not so much.

For those that stopped caring about the art debate, skip to the bottom paragraph.
Appreciating art and supporting the artists are not neccesarily the same things. You don't have to appreciate a piece of art and support the person at the same time. Though you can if you want to. I know, it's been said already but I had to.
The problem is, everyone is in cahoots with everyone else or everyone else has some sort of problem. So does that mean we have to boycott everything in existence then?:erg:
No. Though if I found out some artist was a rapist, I'd hate him and not want anything to do with him. I'd also want to hate his art, but I'd be torn between hating the art and liking it because, as has already been said, the artwork can stand up on its own regardless of the beliefs and actions of the artist. I guess it's just not so clear cut one way or the other.:erg: Or rather, your mind says no by your eyes say yes. (If that makes any sense.)
See, this recent posting by dethtoll is just another example of how he can be a raging asshole who is hard to take seriously rather than a calm individual with arguments worth listening to.
Ya see, even other people here think your being ridiculous on this topic dethtoll. [queue standard haha tl;dr response:erg:]
I don't think they're saying you're an asshole because you hate the artist that is a rapist (because that's perfectly fine and is your opinion), they're saying you're an asshole because you attacked those who enjoy art, which I thought was subjective. I think Yakoob and Trance said it well enough. Also, you ignore people's posts because they're too long? What a fucking asshole. Read Trance's post and Yakoob's. Or don't and just continue to be an asshole.
Being more on topic:
Nothing lately has really been appealing to me on GOG. I guess mainly because most of the titles on there I'm not familiar with. The main reason I have purchased anything from them is because of old games that I had played when I was younger and loved. Although I did get fallout 1 and 2 on gog because I wanted to play them before fallout 3 and heard good things about them.
I'm still wishing they could add thief and system shock, if for no other reason than to share with everyone else because I want them to be able to play and appreciate those titles like I have.

Oh I`m sure it`s the EA side (or whatever other publisher they`re dealing with). So I generally don`t have a truck with it...it`s just their style of explaining things - in a very childish manner - that I find annoying. Like these webcomics you mention, beta stunt, or when they tried to portrait themselves as a poor struggling upstart going against Big Bad Steamy Wolf...

I'd say that all digital distribution services launched since ~ 2007 or so in their infancy would be, so there would be a lot for legitimacy in that argument. Steam has like ~70-80% monopoly of the market.
Also CD Projekt are from Poland, which I'm pretty sure are still considered a part of developing world. Going against Valve in a global market could still be argued to be David-Goliath as a situation in their case.

As with most things with GOG I don`t have a beef with
whythey doing something, but I do with
how they go about it.
So, yeah they sort of compete with Steam...but then only sort of. GOG is a niche operation - selling old classics (it`s even in the name) with no DRM. They`re not in totally direct competition. Other Steam competitors just sell games - and they`re not doing too bad either.
Regardless - ok, they needed to promote themselves, but was it really necessary to do it in such infantile fashion? This crybaby statement about Steam`s prices as compared to us poor chickens - it fooled even this old fox and when they couple months later closed the site and played dead - I thought, shit, maybe they really collapsed, squashed by Valve?
Oops, nah, they didn`t. In fact they were doing just fine, securing big deals and whatnot.
Also I`m not convinced by the "we is Polish" angle - it`s after all the interwebs, and most casual folk has no idea where they`re based. It`s GoG.com, not .pl. I was born in Poland, and just spend 6 months there - it may or may not be classified as "developing", but big business is fine and dandy, and CD Projekt (
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/optimus-finalises-cd-projekt-takeover) is just that big. And again - they conveniently forgotten about the whole Polishness when pre-ordering Witcher 2 recently - there were discounts for UK, leveling prices and such but nothing for Poles - and the website offers other games in Polish currency.
If it seems like I`m ranting I`m not - I`m still a fan, and I actually dislike Steam (thought will have to comply/obey their hegemony soon too). But I`m not down with their cuddly "community" image.
