Is the
Commandos 2 + 3 pack worth it for people who aren't usually into tactics games?
Not really ... though the second one is awesome (yet to play the third) and maybe it'd be the one that hooks you on the genre, but I'm not sure you'd be willing to buy it just to find out. :)

Is the
Commandos 2 + 3 pack worth it for people who aren't usually into tactics games? I very much like the idea of these games, but I'm pretty bad at tactics (one of the reasons why I haven't yet returned to
Frozen Synapse). I've heard that the third game is forbiddingly difficult, which tends to turn me off a game if I'm not a fan of the genre.
Try the demo(s)?

Wow... I'd completely forgotten that these were games from back in the day when demos were much more prevalent... Thanks for jogging my ageing memory! :D

Oh, and if you don't mind a (frankly silly) layer of DRM, you can get all the Commandoing ever made for about 4 smackers on (
http://www.getgamesgo.com/product/commandos-complete) GetGames. Better deal, I should think, though I hear Strike Force is only merely okay. I'm somewhere in the first quarter of the original Commandos. So hard. But so
good.
The games give each Commando a different set of abilities, so it's all about making them work together to achieve the goals at hand. Basically, you have any given scenario abstracted into this overarching puzzle game where you need to fit each Commando into the right place at the right time, so he paves the way for the others to move forward. It's sneaky, tactical, almost cerebral to an extent; perfect when you're in the right mood.

No problemo, Thirith. Let us know what you think after you've sunk your teeth into them properly!
And yeah, totally missing the days of the demo :(. I guess file size and complexity has something to do with it? Not sure, because Xbox360 tends to have a demo of some sort for a huge amount of games released on its platform (not sure about PS3).

For six bucks you can't go wrong with that game, because it is damn fine right up until the roller coaster sequence.

isn't it Allahu Akbar ?
anyways, I liked the game for its storytelling and its characters. But dear god do/did I hate those QTE sequences, they ruined almost everything.
