They pulled this move on Twitter, "Yes, we can confirm or deny that the hint on the front page is, in fact, a red herring to throw you off the scent ;)", which means they're being playfully literal sometimes. That means the answer to the FB clue "Can you find him on the list?" followed by the Empire best video game character list might actually be "No, you can't find him on the list" and it's still JC Denton. (Also the next hint says "You can definitely find him on this list." which sort of hints at that kind of trick too.) Just saying...
Edit: Also for the record, in the field of Eidos published games -- or Square Enix now, whatever -- a cyber sleuth sounds more like Sly Boots than JC Denton. Both games are in the the PC Gamers top 100, and putting "works" in quote-marks and the loner part could apply to both, not so much the multiple gun use. I don't know if Sly would make as big a splash for a promotional though, but you never know.

What if it's Urban Chaos?

I would love it to be Sly Boots but the clues just don't back it up. Hero 2 is almost certain to be Agent 47 (their latest clue suggests that he works for ICA) so unless I missed the bit in Anachronox where Sly wielded a shotgun Hero 1 is unlikely to be him.

Cute. The bar code is coordinates for Denton, Texas. Deus Ex it is.

Hmm, well maybe that blurry gif that appeared to be a graphic from Thief Gold indicates that Thief will be coming later on (as well as other Eidos titles).

If they have access to the Square/Eidos catalogue, I hope that we see Final Fantasy VII on GOG at some stage. The PC version is pretty rare and I'd like to try some of the mods which have been released for it over the years.
Seeing Anachronox and the Legacy of Kain games pop up on there would be great as well. Aside from a brief romp at PS2 version of Soul Reaver 2 a decade+ ago, I've never tried any of those games but would love to.

I would hope so but we'll see. There is confirmation on their site now that other titles will follow in the coming weeks.

The ironic thing about Gog adding Deus Ex is, I usually look to Gog for games that are difficult to install on modern hardware. Thing is, I've never had any issues installing my original version of Deus Ex on any of the Windows platforms to date from then to now.
