I'll probably get that, even though I doubt I'll (re-)play much of it. Loved the atmosphere at the time, the sense of isolation, but the lack of a coherent world and a party sucked. Does it include the speech pack? (Remember the days of speech packs?)
Also: Worlds of Ultima, GoG, 'kay?

Yes, the gold edition (which I'd forgotten existed) apparently includes the speech files.

the boxed copy of ultima 8 that i have is the cd hard drive edition. gold edition sounds way better though :D

You can really see how incompetent bethesda is when you compare pagan intro execution to that of skyrim. Perfect example of interesting writing and character setups versus filler crap.

Yes, but they made it so hard to actually empathise with the characters. Character portraits may be cheesy these days where the actual character models are detailed enough to substitute for them, but they hadn't quite reached that point in Ultima 8. Considering that progression from Ultima 6 to Ultima 7 and then Serpent Isle had all improved on that and allowed you to care about the game characters more than the 10x30 pixel block on the screen it seemed that Ultima 8 took a step back.

Ah, yes...Soul Reaver 2 did get a PC release. Hope the final game got one too.
