Sure. But you'll still find many more people who were scared of Amnesia than Alan Wake. Alan is just too powerful. Hard to be scared of baddies who pose no real threat. Then again I did play it on Normal, maybe it would've been scarier on Hard.

I can't say I found Penumbra/Amnesia particularly scary, but they were probably the only games I've ever played that had atmosphere on par with Thief 1. If someone made a Twin Peaks-like game using the engine from Frictional I'm pretty sure it would be an instant addition to my top-5 games of all time.

Personally, I was very impressed with this game. It's true, there's a bit of a disconnect between what the game initially suggests it would be and what it actually is, but once you get over that hurdle and can accept the flaws it is one of the most interesting shooters out there, imo.

I like the reviews saying "OMG, WITHOUT DRM!" when ubi patched the drm out of the game like 4 years ago.
