@SneaksieGarrett: I had actually e-mailed the developers prior to that. (prior to even ordering the game) and I asked them to sell it on Gog. I got no response from a human... nada
I was ready and willing to buy it from Gog at that time because I generally try and avoid the broken technology known as disk checks. Then they finally release it... at an all-new price.

Disc checks are not broken technology. You are broken sanity. If anything, disc checks are among the easiest to circumvent with a no-CD crack, but of course you won't use those because you're a stupid paranoid crank. I suppose your idea of ideal anti-piracy protection is a piece of paper saying "please don't steal this game" included in the box?

No, I wouldn't use those because they're "eeeeeevil" and I don't want to risk a visit from the capitalist pigs. I did pick up a USB Blu-ray writer though the other day which is self-powered, so now I can play games on a netbook while lugging around slightly less unnecessary shit. (no more IDE adapter)

Funny, I figured you would flip out because I bought a Blu-ray writer.
As far as my terminology above: Where I live, the only goal of those at the top of the system is to make sure everyone can get in trouble for *something*... even honest consumers who pay for their entertainment. DRM is a tool to achieve that goal. By doing this they can:
A. Continually justify tighter restrictions on consumers and there-by gain more control over us
B. Retain the ability to come after us after we have purchased a product if we dare to adapt it to suit our needs
C. Profit!
