Damnit, I knew I waited too long to sell my copy at grossly inflated eBay prices!

Voice acting is terrible, and the pacing is a bit off (especially in Silent Storm; less so in Sentinels), but they're both excellent turn-based strategies, and still have my favourite destructible terrain model.
It has the ability to create one of those moments. You know the ones; they make you go "Oooooooo, that's why I play games!"
Specifically, I'm referring to that time when one of your squad hears a Nazi moving around upstairs, fires their LMG through the ceiling, and a bloody, torn Fritz ragdolls through the subsequent hole.
I'm really, really hoping that the new XCOM takes something from Silent Storm's destructible terrain.

(

My favourite SS moments have always involved having my stealthy scout character sneak around the back of enemy lines and take most of them down with knives and shurikens before they knew what was happening.

My brain just exploded. As well as select other parts of my anatomy.

They're good old games then, I take it? :p

To be honest, I've only played Martian Dreams beginning to end, but it's a great addition to the Ultima series. Cool story and characters, with a scenario that is fresh - it's basically a Jules Vernesian RPG, with a huge cast of historical characters.
Savage Empire is one of the games I've been wanting to play for a long time, mainly on the strength of Martian Dreams and the other Ultima games around that time. I know there were ways of doing this that aren't necessary 100% legal, but I'm glad people can now get these lost gems of '90s RPGs legitimately.
