Today's 'Battle of the Games' is (

Torchlight vs
Chronicles of Riddick, which means both of those will be available for purchase from GOG soon.
I haven't played
Torchlight yet - apart from maybe 2 min with the demo - but I really enjoyed
Chronicles of Riddick (that includes Dark Athena). Highly recommended.
(

Outcast is currently $2.39.

It's weird. I loved Diablo I & II, really enjoyed Sacred 2 (apart from the horrible bugs and memory leaks) and still play Titan Quest to this day, but I could not for the life of me get into Torchlight. Part of me wonders if it is the overly cartoony style of it.

How (well) does it run on modern computers?

Never played the other one, but Riddick was freaking awesome!

My only real complaint about IW was the difficulty. Realistic made the game a cake-walk, and it wasn't exactly challenging to begin with.

so I was thinking about picking up Jagged Alliance 2 since its on sale. I recently played the free first one, and I liked the tactical aspect of it, but the UI (particularily browsing through the candidates and dealing with in-game menus) and weird overhead camera that makes navigating forests a nightmare kind of put me off. JA2 seems to fix that. What's TTLGs verdict?

Yakoob, JA2 is one of the best games ever made. Once you move past however much it has dated, you have a solid and compelling turn based tactical game with excellent progression.
