It's been decades since I played it, but I remember finding it an amazingly frustrating gaming experience. I can imagine someone enjoying it for nostalgia's sake, but I'd be surprised if anyone who comes to it fresh ends up enjoying it as a game. Sure, there are some cool setpieces and fun moments (beating a guy to death with his own arm has a certain charm...), but it's definitely not a great moment in game design.

My thoughts exactly, Thirith. I considered revisiting it via GOG until I recalled how just un-fun and frustrating the damn thing can be. Nostalgia is a bitch, and GOG are reaping the profits!

Cool, if I didn't already have the CD-ROM of the game I'd be on that right away. Never did play through the game though, nor do I have the expansions.
For those that don't already know, there's source ports for Shadow Warrior. One is (

I remember playing the shareware of this game and loving that you could drive an RC car and man the forklift.

Shadow Warrior, unlike Duke Nukem and Blood, really shows its age these days. It is painfully easy to die, and the abundance of high-ROF hitscan enemies can bring your health down from 200 to 20 in a matter of seconds (and then someone throw a rocket at you.) The level design is lovely, but the difficulty is for masochists only. Blood is hard as nails, but it's a fair, balanced hard as nails.

I mostly agree re: Blood, altho I remember really hating the first boss, that gargoyle thing. I didn't seem to have any effective weapons and it was an utter bullet sponge.

It's a free upgrade to anyone who already owned the previous version on GOG (as with the recent updates to Stronghold and Space Colony).

Just bought this. My friend PaYnE on Steam chat and I got to talking about Carmageddon. I have never played it. He said, "if yer lucky, you MIGHT see some polygons". Lol.
Seems ok so far, what is this Splat Pack it came with?
