I use Steam because it's convenient to have most of my games in one place, not because I love having another TSR program in my system tray. Don't really see the point in this, or what's bad about simply downloading games through their website (or their downloader, which I've never used).

I agree with ya Renz.
@Jason: I see it as another option. Folks who hate Steam now have another digital distributor's client to use if they so choose. I say the more the merrier, and like GOG has said, the client is completely optional to use. That's actually one major counterpoint to Steam.
I guess the point is that Galaxy allows you to auto-patch your games and play multiplayer through a centralized service with GOG's games. Having said this, I use steam every day and I'll agree that I don't need yet another client running in the system tray. I'd still like to try it though, and since it's optional I don't have to keep it open all the time like with Steam.

So long as it doesn't have a big footprint, I'm ok with 2 clients running at once.

The curated collection thing is what piques my interest. Steam this year has become a complete clusterfuck and is swiftly beginning to resemble the more odious digital distribution services, such as the iTunes and Play stores.

Yeah, that's a good point Malf. Steam has gotten bigger and bigger over the years. I mean, I guess so has GOG, but as you said, the curated nature of the service should help them out.

This is good news, especially the fact that it's optional. I would most certainly use it to download my games and simply keep my collection in one convenient place. Steam is also good, but one thing I hate about it, is that I have to keep it on always, when I'm playing. It's pretty big RAM drain, especially with my previous decade rigs. And I hate when people chat me when I'm playing. I play when I want to play, and chat when I want to chat. And I don't like it when everybody sees what I'm playing and for how long. I want to keep my dirty playing habits to myself :ebil:
I hope GOG's client will make a difference. Otherwise I'll just close it when I start playing, works that way too.
OT: Got you two! faetal and EvaUnit02, please check your PM!

It won't stop people seeing how long you've played for but why not just choose "Offline" from the "Friends" menu when you don't feel sociable?

Why do you even care? Why does it even matter?

He probably thinks that Valve is watching him masturbate through his webcam and sharing the pics with the NSA.
