I was able to activate my Steam copies of CoP and SoC on GOG, but not my GamersGate Steam serial for Clear Sky. Hurray, I guess. It's not like I'd actually want to redownload Clear Sky.

My copy of SoC on Steam doesn't have a key attached. I do have an old boxed copy, but that's stored in another city. Not that I'm broken up over it in the slightest, I have the whole trilogy on Steam.

Your SoC key is in the Windows registry. On Win 7 64, it's at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GSC Game World\STALKER-SHOC.

This is great news. Fantasy General is one of my favourite games. They already had the remake/clone, though.

GOG are currently promoting new(?) info and beta sign-ups for the GOG Galaxy client.

It's still sounding good to me (on paper, at least), and I like how it's not only the client on the whole which is optional, but many core individual client features can be enabled or disabled by the user as well.
I reckon GOG are doing right by their community with this project, and if they can pull it off then there's definite scope for it to significantly enhance the community.
I think that many users will find themselves quite willing to use a client when they know that they can uninstall it at any time without interfering with their games in any way.

I've heard my fair share of stories about games on Steam not working the way they should. I wouldn't use it as a knock against either company. Rather, I'd use it as an example how computers are dumb, stupid, random things.
Anyway, to get on topic, I signed up for it. The only reason why I tend to use Steam more than GOG these days is because it makes buying games a little easier, and gives you so much more in comparison. If CD Projekt can come close to matching the Steam client feature for feature, I'd probably end up using it more.

Sorry for the rant, I'm half asleep, feel free to rip me apart.
Roger that.
- Steam versions of older titles these days are either horribly outdated or... GOG-based.
- How does ARM etc. relate to DRM? Games from GOG can be installed on any number of machines using supported operating systems. If another operating system takes over in the future and the games don't work on that, that's not a matter of artificial DRM, it's a matter of compatibility.
