Well GOG... that was one dick-headed move. I'll remain a loyal customer because no one else is doing what they do, and I'm sure they'll go straight back to being awesome, but seriously... what the hell were they thinking?
They've already garnered comments along the lines of "I'd never heard of GOG before this publicity stunt. Now I have, and I don't want to be their customer."
*shakes head*
This is the best possible outcome of the whole situation, but also the most bewildering.
Awesome :)

Yeah, look at me all using established terminology like some kind of mouthbreathing slackjawed moron.
It's cute that you think "the cloud" is anything more than the marketing buzzword
du jour. Really.

I am highly amused, though getting your marketing strategy from a chan might not be the best idea long term.

I don't think that has much to do with Monolith, they sold the rights for the Blood franchise to GT (Atari now).
More relevantly to the first post, Monolith don't have the rights to NOLF.

Well there you go. (
http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/20051104) It's Sony.
I had to put a wireless card in a VAIO desktop a month or so ago. The case didn't have one detachable side like most do; instead, the top, left and right sides were all one piece of metal, molded into a rounded U shape. Dumbest thing ever; took me several minutes to wiggle that thing back into place. :p
Well, I don't know what to say. I have seen (and owned) several cases like that. Not anymore difficult to put back into place than a standard side panel.

More random monks on GOG's videos... They have also put a video preview of the new site up. I'm impressed with the download stats, 2 million in 2 years is quite a lot. Even if customers download a game 3 times, that's still >300k sales per year. Updating the website to handle much more traffic thn currently makes sense, although they should have done it in a better way.

It's a marketing buzzword for what's now a solidified concept. It's cheesiness and feel of general Web 2.0 bullshittery doesn't change the fact a whole bunch of servers used to store files, documents, and even execute web based programs across the wide internets is now generally referred to as...
:dramatic pause:
...The Cloud.
The phrase, or marketing buzzword if you prefer, is now synonymous with just about every one of those aforementioned services. It can be used legitimately.
SO HOW BOUT THEM GOGS HUH? THEY DUM FOR DOIN DUM THING!

Yet 50% of those people will end up as loyal customers anyway.
I don't like the marketing stunt, but it seems to be working pretty well.

They probably weren't. If you watched that Chapter 0 trailer that the monk pictures were taken from, you'd see that, well, they think they're funny, and either because of a language barrier or... because of the fact that they're complete nerds and maybe they just don't have the people skills to realize that it just wasn't funny. I'm happy that they're nerds, and I'm happy that they've gotten these games out for us for cheap and that work fine.. so I'm just going to say... okay. You guys made a joke .... nobody got it. Don't do it again and there will be smooth sailing from here on out.
