Question out of ignorance: is BG 2 also owned by Hasbro or not?
Which begs to ask....
If we get BG in GOG, may it be possible to get BG 2 too?, maaaaaaaybe even other Inifnity Engine classic titles? :D:D:D
Obviously, I already bought BG from day 1...olol...

I'd imagine so. I'm guessing that Hasbro (WotC's parent company) bought the lot of Infinity Engine games off Interplay at some stage. Herve Caen probably would've been eager to sell them off to keep himself supplied in cocaine.
If you're the rights holders to D&D, then you may as well buy the premier/highly popular computer games based on your property if they're on the bidding table.

Allow me to quote an earlier post of mine:

Both BG games (also both Icewind Dales and Torment) were recently included on magazine cover disks here, which means the license goes around cheap. Do the math.

GOG also seem keen to have RPG games on their games list. Is this because they sell really well?

As they said in one of those videos, Baldur's Gate was a game they always dreamed of having at GOG. Combined with the fact that their parent company is responsible for one of the more notable RPGs of recent years (and its imminent sequel), I think it's probably safe to say they're fans of the genre.

As of last year they were held by Atari under exclusive licence from Hasbro. There is some litigation (unresolved still so far as I know) between Hasbro/ WOTC (owners of the D&D licence) and Atari (the licencee) relating to digital distribution and unauthorised sublicencing as well as an independent action between Atari and Turbine over D&DO. All of which complicates things and looks rather like the mess Interplay got itself into towards the end of its D&D run.
Short story, they
may need permission from both Atari and Hasbro but there's no reason at all to suspect it's an insurmountable problem even if true as they've clearly already done one for BG1. Personally, I'd be amazed if the BG1 deal doesn't include staged roll outs for BG2 and the IWDs at least
The trademarks are all held by Hasbro/ WOTC which is a change as Atari owned most of them last year. Interestingly, the one for Torment got abandoned only a few months ago (June 2010) and the ones for both Icewind Dale and NWN are new (May 2010) replacing canceled ones from Atari.

Can someone explain this "GoG" trend to me? Both good and old are adjectives, yet one is uppercase but the other is not. I would expect it to be GOG or gog, not GoG. I see this style of writing all over the internet these days, whoever is responsible for this should get beaten up real good.
