The latest game on GOG is the director's cut of (
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/broken_sword_directors_cut) Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars, which is a modern remake. I never got into the Broken Sword series, but I heard good things about them, and it's on special offer at $4.19 this week.
I've purchased Neverwinter Nights (never played it before but heard it's good) as a Christmas present for myself, and it's mighty tempting to play it before Christmas. So I'm consoling myself with Moto Racer 2, which is a good fun bike racing game.
GOG are counting down to a big release on the 14th, which I'm hoping would be System Shock II or Thief (the latter is more likely as they've already got some Eidos games on there). Probably will be neither, but a man can dream :D

I would've thought that the original version of Broken Sword would be a better fit on GOG than the modern remake? *shrug* I imagine that never they managed to sort out the rights for the original version, hence its absence for so long from the site despite them having the sequels.

I won't spill it all out, but I think I can tell you the premise without spoiling too much.
What I'm doing here is taking two historical happenings that have always struck a chord with me, and combining them. One is the Roanoke colony disappearances, which I'm sure just about everyone knows about. The idea of an entire population disappearing practically overnight would be a neat basis for a story. The other is the far creepier Dyatlov Pass Incident, which this (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyatlov_Pass_incident) linkage here will tell you all about.
...
Sounds fantastically creepy, man! I love the idea. Sounds like a ton of work. Wish I could offer to help, but all I can do in the graphics department is draw crude approximations of phalli in MS Paint, which can be
quite atmospheric, but probably not in the exact manner you're going for.
Really though, it looks and sounds fantastic. You need a beta tester any time in the future, I'd be happy to help. ;)

Hey, you're hired then. I'd say that if I keep up the pace, I'll have my first tileset up in about a month or so.
It's taken me about 4 days, but I've finally got the groundwork laid. The depot is done, everything is sized up to NWN standards, and I've started on the foliage and trees.
What really amazes me here is just how relatively high a polycount you can go with in NWN. It's a shame only a (
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=hakpaks.Detail&id=7947) handfull of people have taken advantage of what it can do. I plan on being one of those people, as you can see here...
Inline Image:
http://users.chartertn.net/greymatt/depot_trees.jpgThose are four tiles, and I'm not even at half of the polys a single tile can support.
Anyway, this is pretty much the look I'm going for with my forest. Need a few more trees for variety, then I can get to the not fun part of getting this stuff ingame.

That looks positively grim.

I hope you mean that in a good way.

Ah...sigh. I kinda wish I had more time to learn scripting.
(
http://users.chartertn.net/greymatt/floating_text.jpg) But I'll try to give it a proper send off. Maybe release a few more screenshots, or upload it as an example for people who want to learn how to make floating text scripts in NWN.
