Also I dare you to even try playing Silent Hill 1 with a keyboard, it's a fucking nightmare.
Which is friggin' great, because it does wonders for the atmosphere. Talk about an incredibly inapt comparison!
For the record, that's exactly what I did. Got the good and bad endings, too. Also finished SH2 the same way. Yes, I was a masochist. But if you think that
that is a nightmare, you've obviously never played the PC port of MGS2 on a keyboard to the end. Ha. Time of my life, that was. But I finished it.
Guess I
really was a masochist.

Oh I did that too. I recall the endgame ranking system awarding my run-through as "Pig". It did feel appropriate.

I primarily use my 360 pad for playing PS1 emulated games and driving games. Eg Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill are utterly unplayable on a keyboard.
I've created Xpadder profiles for the PC versions of Final Fantasy VIII, Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey + Abe's Exodus and Sonic Adventure DX. Lemme know if you want any of them. The former three are recreations of the Playstation version layouts.
Yes please, if you don't mind posting or sending me the Oddworld Xpadder profiles it would be much appreciated. :cheeky:

Agreed. Most 8-bit 2D style retro platformers are.
Keyboard is closer to the NES/SNES pad design than 360 pad is. Cave Story was a PC exclusive too.
On topic: Darksiders.

Yes i might get a shoddy fake-o chinese ebay "ps2style" pad for this reason - at least the d-pad will be half decent compared to the xbox one. And the whole thing should only cost about £5 in total too.

Or just buy a Logitech.

The d-pad on the logitech pads looks a bit floaty rubbish too though.
Always found the nintendo style cross ones the best to be honest - and the split button playstation ones are at least reasonably okay, cos at least they cannot be imprecise, although not really as fluent as the buttons aren't connected.

You'd think it's rubbish, but it's not. I would recommend seeing if any store near you has them on display so you can feel them. I find the D-Pad rather excellent, myself, and I've used a lot of different pads.
