The way the game seems to work reminds me a lot of the Shadowrun FPS, in that it's a combination of run n' gun and lots of customizable special powers and equipment. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how this turns out, it looks like it has the potential to be wacky fun.

Yeah, count me out now.

The game has no dedicated servers, nor match region filtering. Thus it's pretty much unplayable in my part of the world.
Oh Monolith, you're truly a shell of your former selves.

They used to be my favorite developer. Even above Looking Glass. Even above Ion Storm. They truly have shifted away from their roots and it hurts.

Oh for fuck's sake you miserable poop patties. Surely this was just to keep the lights on? And the GfWL decision was almost certainly Warner Brothers' idea -- nevermind that FEAR 2 and 3 both required Steam; also nevermind that multiplayer has never been Monolith's strong suit.

And? If GCI is a quick money making exercise, then you're limiting your potential sales by ignoring the expectations of a large percentage of your audience for a particular platform.
GfWL is besides the point. Halo 2 PC, Section 8 and S8: Extreme Prejudice all support dedicated server hosting, yet they still all require GfWL. The latter two were made by an indie studio which absolutely wouldn't have access to the kind of money which corporate subsidiary like Lith have, there's real no excuses.
The lack of dedicated servers for a new IP game competitive MP game without the audience which something like CoD has utterly limits the game's playability in several parts of the world. Oceania players have been reporting 200+ pings when trying to play GCI.
