Been stockpiling potions - the increasing LP cost means it's the only way to do it.
Getting along better now. It's not so hard, once you figure out attack pattens, and when to run away. After getting the reward from the expansion, and realizing that all the gods in Gothic are kind of dicks, I felt ready to take on an army.
A feeling which was rapidly removed when I headed to the Valley of the Mines for chapter 2 and discovered there actually was an army.
That said, in an amusing turn, I'm now splitting my game time between this and Demon's Souls. I go to Gothic now to remove frustration.

Does Gothic 2 have same control scheme as Gothic? Ctrl+Alt+Del to pick up items and talk to people?
mrle01 on 15/8/2010 at 10:38
You can use Gothic's control scheme (although I don't remember needing to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to talk to people, it was just two buttons) or you could use Gothic 2 control scheme where you only need to press one button to talk to people, pick up things or attack. So it's up to you which one to use.
So basically, you have two control schemes to pick from.

Ignore Koki, he's just trying to relay his frustration that his life is very very sad.

Yeah, how dare you answer my question, sheesh
Thanks, I'll look into Gothic 2 then

I'm sorry Koki, given your history of snarky putdowns with the sole purpose of showing the rest of the world how grim you view the world, I assumed this question was just a continuation of that near useless online act of yours.
Given your history, if you really want to be taken seriously with that question, put it in the form of a normal question and not bait people into triggering the Windows task manager. It'll avoid confusion in the future.

You no longer need to use Action+Forward to pick up items and talk to people, you just use the action key. Because pushing forwards and a mouse button was just so game-breakingly awkward that you couldn't bear to play a game like that, and you certainly couldn't learn to get used to it in five minutes.

Does anyone actually use the G1 control scheme in Gothic 2?
Nameless Voice on 15/8/2010 at 19:00
My memory is a tiny bit fuzzy here, but as I recall: yes. The "Gothic 2 controls" breaks the combat system by giving you just one key to attack, instead of being able to choose to do left and right swings or forward thrusts.
IIRC, Gothic 2 always uses the just-frob system for interacting with objects, instead of Gothic 1's frob-and-forward. In most cases, anyway. You still need to use frob-and-sideways to turn winches, for example.

G2 allows you to separately bind left and right attacks to keys.
