I got all the time in the world to play games. But there are hardly any (new) games that interest me. BioShock Infinite was ok. But I liked it more during gameplay, than after I finished it. I played Dishonored, Mirror's Edge, and some more Skyrim, but those were older. The Witcher 2 was brilliant.
The only new game that I played, and that I really enjoyed: Metro Last Light.
Weird, because I normally don't care much for FPSes anymore.

clearly candy crush saga is the game of the year

lol
Well I guess now that it's been named GOTY we can look forward to a GOTY edition next year?

Dragon's Castle :p.
But more seriously, Shadowrun Returns for GOTY closely followed by XCOM Enemy Within.

Haha, of all the games mentioned in this thread so far I've played a grand total of:
3
My GOTY therefore is Metro: Last Light, cause it certainly ain't Fez or Shadowrun Returns.
Seriously, where the hell do you guys all get the time to play these games, particularly so close to release?

2013 was a pretty bad year in gaming as far as I'm concerned. My GOTY top three would probably be, in no particular order:
* Metro: Last Light
* Papers, Please
* Kentucky Route Zero
Games (and 'non-games') I also enjoyed a lot: GTA 5, Outlast, Gone Home, Betrayer alpha, Arma 3, Shadow Warrior, Knock Knock, the Dishonored DLC and The Cave.
The only title I feel I have missed, because it is an exclusive, is The Last of Us.
I also have an unusual list of games I started in good spirits but ended up hating this year: Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Saints Row 4, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Dead Space 3 and Brothers: A Tale of two Sons.

You guys seem to have done diddly squat. Get on it, post about it.
* Game of 2013 that was phenomenal in most every area but had the biggest, most wonderful brass balls to pull off what it did in the narrative department for a AAA game: The Last of Us
* Game of 2013 that looked absolutely gorgeous, had an intriguing story, but was weighed down by poor pacing, mediocre gameplay, and unrealised gameplay mechanics potential: Bioshock Infinite
* Game of 2013 that featured the loveliest thinkgasms: a two-way tie between The Swapper and Antichamber
* Game of 2013 that made Pac-Man srs bsns: Monaco (play with friends, provided none of you have murderous tendencies, because things will get hilariously wrong really fast, and really frequently)
* Game of 2013 that wasn't a game: Gone Home
* Game of 2013 that had the best sense of humour: Skulls of the Shogun (also, probably more importantly: it's as good a TBS game as XCOM, maybe even better in some respects)
* Best Game of 2013 featuring rabbits: Shadow Warrior
* Best Game of 2013 I'd like to nominate but can't play completely yet because its release schedule is so fucked: Kentucky Route Zero
* Best Game of 2013 I haven't played because oh god my backlog: XCOM: Enemy Unknown
* Best Game of 2013 that kept making you kill its protagonist for kicks: Tomb Raider
* Best Uncharted game of 2013: Tomb Raider
* Worst Uncharted game of 2013: Enslaved (I'm cheating because I played it years ago, but you'll see when you play it on PC)
* Best Game that had too many instances of the word 'fuck' because it's edgy: DmC
* Best Game that looked like a knock-out but left you distressingly unfulfilled and handcuffed to the bed as it walked away (oh, France): Remember Me
Apart from that, I still need to play Brothers, Papers Please, Outlast, and a bunch of others, but I doubt that list is changing much any time this year.

First time I've heard anyone saying they hated Brothers. What didn't you like about it?

My hate exists purely from a gameplay perspective, I found the controls (lack of precision, general slowness) and very basic puzzles annoying to the extreme. It is a pretty game and a touching tale, so I feel a little bad at putting it on this list.
It is somewhat an opposite to Tomb Raider, which is solid from a gameplay perspective (good cover-based shooting, good controls, excellent technically) but oh so superficial and un-Tomb Raider-like.
