The Organ Trail haha that was great, I bet you and me are the only ones who have that game Henke.
Gone Home takes my pick for goty, I just wish it had been longer.

I have Organ Trail. It's fun.

Honestly though....I'm having a hard time deciding this year. While I'd have to say that overall the one I've enjoyed the most was GTA V, there isn't anything that I was terribly impressed by. Even GTA V doesn't live up to previous iterations with the main complaint I have is that the world feels relatively dead compared to GTA IV....which was very dense and lively by comparison. Saint's Row 4 was amusing and got some good laughs from me but the game's mechanics and engine feel so dated. And although polished, it's very clearly a game with a short dev cycle.
A lot of the other games I missed and/or wasn't impressed by. I'm working on Black Flag right now and so far it wins out in the "fun" factor because their version of the Caribbean is a world I enjoy exploring much more than the other games so far.

This year kind of sucked, but my list would be:
Metro: Last Light (GOTY)
Shadow Warrior
Papers, Please
Shadowrun Returns
Strike Suit Infinity
That Brigmore Witches DLC for Dishonored was amazing as well.

A) Even the most casual comic reader is aware of Crisis on Infinite Earths (and, indeed, so will a lot of non-comic readers)
As a casual comic reader, I have to say what the hell are you talking about?
I did not care for BSI either though. It did have some very nice moments and musical vignettes early on, and certainly the guns had a nice kick to them, but the gameplay was undermined by the instant respawn which removed any challenge. Maybe it would've been more fun on one of the harder modes? I did not care about the characters, and the story did not do much for me either.

A simple Googling would have sufficed, plebe.

I wasn't actually asking what Crisis on Whateverplanet was, I was disputing your claim that it's well-known.

It's okay, henke. deth has a pretty large lack of perspective stemming mostly from eating, sleeping, and inhaling decades' worth of DC comic books in a couple of years because... well, fill in your own reasons. The previous sentence was tragic enough without an explanation.

Can I list Mark of the Ninja and FTL? They came out last year, but I played them this year.

The fact that I've read a lot of comics has very little to do with it.
D) Even aside from that, BSI handled the whole thing badly, and threw the actually
semi-interesting historical/social stuff under the bus for it.
I found the historical stuff of the
original timeline + universe very interesting. But once it started going off into Sliders (the tv show) territory it got very confusing, especially in regards to the ending.
The amount of paradox's that should have happened it's not funny. Had me going huh? So confusing. The end of the first dlc didn't help either.
