Apparently, the Tomb Raider movie will feature the Illuminati as the "bad guys". This upsets me; the writers will probably through around so much junk about them, and people will know the TR Illuminati and not the DX Illuminati. Anyone else kinda pissed with this possibility?

Yeah.....but its all a conspiracy.

Well, it's not like Warren Spector invented the Illuminati. :p

The idea of the Illuminati has been around for a few hundred years at least. There's a buttload of "information" regarding the Illuminati on the 'net if you're interested in it.

Everything you said is true, but my point was that people will think the Illuminati to be something less than what Warren Spector and his crew made them to be. Sure, who's to say what the Illuminati is and such? But it is still a bit disconcerting that the DX team will have gone to all this work to make a great sandcastle of exegetically correct info on the Illuminati, only to have it swept away under a great wave of poor writing from Hollywood.

Warren Spector and his team made the Illuminati a bunch of pansies. I never got the sense that I was dealing with a secret organization that ruled the world. Just a bunch of guys wringing their hands about MJ12.

Yes, but I seem to remember them saying something about their loss of power during the past (21st) century, which would explain why they're not more powerful. Plus all their top guys are locked up in freezers, so it's a bit hard to get anything useful out of them. :p

If you want to see the 'Real' Illuminati, read Robert Anton Wilson's Illuminatus! Trilogy. Actually, even if you couldn't care less about the Illuminati, read this book, just because it's a freakin' masterpiece.

After rereading my post, I realize I may have been a little misleading. Illuminatus! is not an "Official History of the Bavarian Illuminati". It's social commentary thinly disguised as Sci-Fi, sort of part-Douglas Adams-part-Philip K. Dick-part-Kurt Vonnegut.
Alright, just read it already, you won't be sorry. Oh, and the sequel/whatever, the Schrodinger's Cat Trilogy (just possibly even better).
