My preorder finally arrived, might install this at some point but its Clear Sky for me for the moment. I wonder what the hell they were actually doing in the time between xbox and PC releases. Maybe they just thought it would be a hilarious joke if they ported the game to PC and spent the rest of their time fucking the game up as much as possible before release.

Ps3/Pc/Wii is more than enough. But now people have to suffer (you know, like they suffer in Africa) due to Xbox exclusives, and developers having to port games to that sh*t console just because of lost sales.
Over-exaggerate much?

I'm also playing Clear Sky while waiting for R* to release a patch + waiting for the new ATI driver, due out today.
I think R* spent most of the time implementing that video clip editor, even the patch (that they're working on) seems mostly to be about the video editor, also kind of funny. Who the hell even cares about it.

The patch promised by Rockstar for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV has now been released. Start up GTA IV and connect to LIVE to initiate the download. The patch is 32.6MB and will take a few minutes to install. It should fix the following issues:
A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays.
Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice.
Fix for ATI 1900 shadows.
Overall savings to memory.
Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors.
Multiplayer character settings are preserved.
Support for DirectInput controllers.

Hi, can someone please help me check how much GTA4 is in UK Pound Sterling? Steam store now sells in local currency - UK pounds and Euro.
Matthew on 18/12/2008 at 09:16
I think it's on Steam for £26.99. In UK online stores it's £24.99, so it compares well.

Just for the record: installing the game was a major pain in the ass, but it runs well enough on my E8400 (overclocked at roughly 4GHz) with GTX 260. There are a couple of visual glitches, though, and the shadows are crap. I'm still enjoying the game, though.

Yeah, the occasional visual glitches can be annoying, usually when the floor (and all objects below a certain plane) turns all grey for a moment.
It's really a minor quibble though. The game is a lot of fun; not remotely a great leap forward from the GTA 3 series of games, more of an evolutionary step. Gameplay wise, it's more or less the same as San Andreas - which is no bad thing. I miss the insane stunt bonuses though.
