:thumb: i would be very happy with that

It needs to be stepped down a bit (too many odd things poking out all over the place) but otherwise, it would be nice. My biggest concern over graphics like that, is scene complexity reducing lines of sight. Scene complexity issues will kill the Thieves' Highway, and continue to limit how varied the terrain can be. I would like to both see dense forests with wide meadows open to the sky.

ok ok so ill change my statement... i would be very happy with that IF it doesnt detract from large sprawling areas (including the rooftops) to explore and have our way with, because as it has been said great graphics are NOT an integral part of Thief.
People would not still be playing Thief 1 and 2 if graphics really mattered when it comes to the whole experience. Though of course the light aspects of the graphics engine certainly does... and physics would be a nice aspect too

I'm sorry I can't remember the website of these original pics, but I know for sure its from an Unreal 3 MOD done by some guy, nothing to do with Thief at all, yet if Thief IV should look like this I will declare myself pleased.
Now THAT'S what I call eye-candy!!! I'd love to see something similar in T4, but agree with jtr's concern that scene complexity might negatively affect the game.

This scene isn't really that complicated, not in terms of what's being done in games today. But I remembered my first time playing titles like Gears of War. Especially on a small 17'' monitor it looked like it's all too cluttered with detail and all too sharp, even to the point of eye-strain. Buying a 32" display "solved" the problem ;) No matter what you'll do with your gaming rigs, you'll get used to it :) I guess we'll all have to perform some upgrades to play T4.

You don't think it'll hinder long lines of sight on a modern console, then?
Well, even so, I think the structures are just too thorny the way they are, too visually busy, and actually a distraction from the buildings themselves, but I trust EM won't be following this as a template, so we're safe anyway ('til we see otherwise).

LOD means there's no need to compromise sightlines or complexity; the only danger is running out of build time and ending up with a vast level that's only 10% full of complex stuff.

As a non-gamer with no machine to play newer titles, I'm really out of touch with the latest achievements and vernacular.
That's why I got you guys!
