Holy Moderator Double Post Bump, Batman.
It's necessary though. See, Sony aren't directing all their will towards GT4 Mobile are they?
No, they're not. They're doing this kind of shit:
...
I saw this picture. You need the pain too.
Yes, it's a man, in the bath, on his PSP. Watching porn by the looks of it. Maybe it's the money shot. Humidity will kill it, so
he won't be buying GT4 Mobile but it's too late now. DAMN YOU SONY. Damn you to hell.
Can't be porn. He's got both his hands on the PSP.
Edit: At least he's not wearing shades.

Well, if you didn't get a chance to play the game for the DS, I highly recommend you try it out now. The mission design was consistently fantastic (more varied than GTA IV, which was one of my main problems with that game). Nearly every time I played the game, I found myself saying, "God, I love this game."
Admittedly, the game was a little shorter than I was expecting, and the ending was not among the most satisfying out there, but otherwise, it truly is a top notch game.

I'm playing Chinatown Wars currently on PSP and it's terrific. Easily the best GTA since San Andreas. The open world is brimming with PS2 gen GTA style sandbox activities, unlike GTA4 where the sandbox was almost entirely the god awfu , tedious "social simulation" bullshit. The drug dealing system is surprisingly pretty in depth and quite addictive, TBH.
Mission design is quite good, not that many thus far that have felt like grinds and/or requiring a zillion retries to complete - no more than 3 or 4 at the most. The highlights thus are have definitely been the string of mission where you're aiding Melanie the journalist in making her true crime documentary about the drug business.
The game incorporates some of the small handful of genuinely good features that GTA4 introduced, such as the taxi fast-travel system and GPS navigation. Thankfully the terrible player movement has left on the cutting room floor - Huang turns on dime when you're manoeuvring him. Thankfully it's technically infeasible to implement GTA4's completely unfun, semi-realistic driving model and GTA4's wanted system didn't make sense in a handheld gaming's "play in short burst" design philosophy. Motoring around in Chinatown Wars is arcadey fun and it's relatively easy to lose the cops (vs. GTA4 where they can be utterly relentless and unwavering).
The story is cliched and unremarkable, but at least there's no schizophrenic tone like there has been with the last several few GTA's. Unlike with Nico, CJ and Victor (reportedly Red Dead Redemption's John Marsden is cut from the cloth. I've yet to play to play that game, so I can't confirm), the characterisation of Huang in the cutscenes isn't at odds with what the player's actions. Huang is just a mobster thug who wants to avenge his father's death and settle the drama-filled power struggle for the triad leadership. He isn't trying to turn straight, leave behind a life of violence/crime/etc.
The mini-games that were designed for touch screen controls have been adapted pretty flawlessly to traditional control methods. I've had zero trouble with any of these sequences, with the exception of tattooing (which I honestly haven't bothered to do since the story mission where it was mandatory).
Criticisms:- Laggy menus, even when streaming entirely off of a memory card rather than slow reading UMD. Understandably due to inheritance from the puny storage space of DS cartridges - the radio stations feature totally non-descript tunes, that feel like a greatest hits compilation of elevator Muzak. The PDA is quite cumbersome and a chore to use, likely much smoother with the original stylus controls.
In conclusion:- Chinatown Wars craps upon GTA4 from great heights when it comes to playability and sheer fun factor. From a gameplay point of view, THIS is how the sequel to San Andreas should've been.

Holy Shit, I was like who's posted a picture of a man in the bath with a PSP. Then I realised it was me so I thought y'all'd appreciate another.

http://www.zen80200.zen.co.uk/PSP2.jpgI have Chinatown wars for the iPhone and it's also great, my main gripe being that it takes so long to load which is just nitpicking, really.
