They were trying to block people from using mods.

Yeh which is exactly the reason they re-released the original as v2.0 which is the disc I have. It removed the hot coffee and the ability to edit code etc. This was the version I was expecting to get from Steam, not some crazy "v3.0".
Keep in mind that I have played samp for years, have made my own freeroam mods and such, I know how to downgrade to either ver 1 or 1.01, in fact I have a seperate v1 install just for multiplayer. I just wanted a legit copy of the game without using a dodgy nocd crack.
The annoying thing is that both VC and GTA3 have widescreen resolution available, when they didnt at the original release, but SA had widescreen, and now it doesnt?
Yeh Im a bit obsessive about this game, ah well what ya gonna do
EvaUnit02 on 26/10/2011 at 02:45
No widescreen? v3.0 supports 16:10 resolutions, just not 16:9 ones.
Also if you've already paid for the game then I see no harm in using cracked EXEs. Disc check DRM sucks, having to have discs in drive for such a recent PC game is so redundant. It's no longer 1996 where we all had 8GB HDDs and 12x CD-ROM drives. Large capacity HDDs eliminated the need for streaming data off of optical media.

yeh but the cracked exe I was using was causing some odd behaviour
