Been playing a bit more singleplayer GTA V lately. In first person with mouse and keyboard controls it feels very different from the game I played on the XBox360 a few years back.

Also using Michael's slo-mo ability a lot more this time, since it's more accessible than the awkward press-both-thumbsticks-at-once-to-activate combo it was hidden behind on the XBox.

What I still find amazing is how, in spite of problems with the netcode, the sadistic loading times and a number of absolutely boneheaded design decisions on Rockstar's part, when GTA Online works, and in particular in some of the heist missions, it's one of the most fun coop experiences ever. When it reaches that sweet spot between smooth cooperation and chaos, it's magic.

A moment from last weekend's heisting...

Shame you can't do a split screen version of that one with me in the other van driving completely unharmed and unhindered, going "Tum de tum de tum...".

That's some great editing, henkester! Great choice of song, too. :D

I've been avoiding GTA V mods because I suspected that getting anything running would be a big complicated mess, but after seeing the Trucking Missions mod in RPS' (
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2016/03/09/best-gta-5-mods-2/#more-352809) Best GTA V mods list yesterday I just had to get it. Turns out I was right about what a complicated mess it would be. Took me a good 2 hours of downloading the
exactly correct versions of .NET Framework, Visual C++ Redistributable, ScripthookV, ScripthookVDotNet, and the mod itself and starting the game up about 6 times before I finally had the correct things in the correct places and the whole damn thing worked.

The mod is fun tho. Might try out the LAPD First Reponse mod as well as it looks like an impressively deep police simulation.

I can appreciate that of course it'd be the Trucker mod that gets you to finally take the plunge.

Heh. The mod I'd most like to see tho, and one I'm tempted to try making myself, is a Golf Anywhere mod. There's already a golf minigame in the game, so the gameplay is there already, but I'd like to take it out of the golfcourse, putting up tees and holes in random locations around the world. You'd have to golf across the desert, highways, inner-city traffic, rooftops, etc. Judging by what other mods have been made I feel like it should be doable.

Golf Anywhere sounds like a pretty awesome game concept in its own right anyway!
