Yes, but not in as much detail and not with the gun. You must admit that the physics in HL2 were, on its release, the most advanced and extensively implemented (in terms of gameplay use) at the time.
And that
still makes it iterative- the only unique thing about it is that it's a gun.

I notice that most people who spell my name wrong when it's RIGHT THERE FOR THEM TO READ usually tend to be the sort who get butthurt over people saying things relatively harshly. Were you bullied in high school? Is that why you can't handle it when people say things bluntly? Are you going to report us for "harassing" you then send us a big load of bawwww in a PM? 'Cuz uh, that's not exactly innovative, original or fresh around here ;)
Actually I was to lazy to look up or down the page for the correct spelling.
As to your questions, no, wasn't bullied in high school, however yes I may have to report you for "harassing" me. I mean, here I am, just trying to get my opinion out there in a polite and hopefully intelligent discussion.
And what do I get? Verbal abuse. I've yet decided whether I should go to the authoritys on these boards because I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. I mean I've never seen you pull these kinds of shenanigans with anyone else, so I'm not sure why you're picking on little ol me, to "harass".
Now lets get on to other matters. This talk of the plot in HL2 is a bit of a thorn in my side. Personally I don't see much of a "story" at all. As far as I'm concerned, evil aliens have taken over the world, and we as the protagonist must put a stop to it. Sure, it's a little deeper than that, but not by a whole lot. To be honest, I've never really payed much attention to the story because I was so busy killing everything in sight that I didn't care about it.
Not to say it was a bad game. It looks great, no denying that. And for what it is, a linear shooter, it's about as good as you're going to get. Also the gravity gun was a whole lot of fun, but really the only thing that set the game apart from the myriad of other shooters out there.
My problem with it was I didn't find replaying it worthwhile. And believe me I've tried. Several times. I recently put it back on my hard drive, played until Ravenholm, and got to bored to continue. I mean how many times can one man save the world?

So many people say HL2 had no plot and then go on to say something hurrr along the lines of 'but then again I wasn't paying attention to the plot'. I guess in some ways they're right - HL2 sticks you in a world and lets you notice stuff for yourself more than drops exposition filled notes all over the place like an extremely absent-minded bridget jones. But story is there, and its very well presented.
Thanks so much for deferring to report people to the 'authoritys', BTW. Magnanimous.

You've countered with "mildly edgy" comments such as, "
Ooops! Here comes that word subjective again. ," so I'm not quite sure what you're complaining about. They push, you push back. And by they, I mean dethtoll.

Half-life 2 has never been about the plot, though. It's about that on-the-fly dialogue. You know, now that I think about it I never really cared to progress forward to see what would happen next in the plot. Instead I've progressed because I wanted to hear the next NPC conversation. They aren't superb but they're quite well done and I enjoy them.

You may be right about the story but I don't see it. And I play games more for the story than anything else. I think Valve set out to make the best straight FPS they could. And at that they succeeded as they did with HL1. I
really don't think they intended to make a heavy story driven game and doubt if they put much effort into the plot.
I think the games fan base did that for them. And see nothing wrong with that. However personally I didn't find it worth the effort looking for obscure little things here and there that would explain exactly WTF was going on.
As to not deferring people to the "authority's".
Your very welcome. :D

You guys are smart!
But I'll try and explain my misspelling. I was so upset, (I've already explained how sensitive I am), that in my haste to finish the post I let that slip by.
Please accept my most humble apologies.

Wow. I have one of my rare snarky for the shits and giggles moments, and the first thing I get is a heavy dose of guilt trip. Thanks alot. Now I feel bad.
But on a serious note, grow some thicker skin. There hasn't been a single thing said that isn't beyond the usual bastardness around here. If anything, it's been relatively tame. For your own sake, it's best not to keep your heart so exposed on your sleeve that even a passing breeze makes it sting.
