Has anyone played it... I hope I am aloud to post this here :p
I used to play it, I have a Prophecies/Factions/Nightfall account.. The game got a little boring once I'd come across the Thief series, where the fighting isn't automatic and you can go right behind a character without him noticing, Guild Wars, when you come into this "aggro" circle, you're attacked.
This game doesn't really have much physics, it's like most MMORPGs.

I'm a big Guild Wars fan; have been playing since the World Preview Event, what, two and a half years ago now?
Got all the Collector's Editions and all of the pre-orders :o
I get a bit worked up about certain aspects of the game, but the whole GW combat and skill system has spoiled other MMO type games for me.
Indeed, it's become my benchmark for rating dungeon crawler RPGs such as Dungeon Siege and Titan Quest.
It just so happens to have a great online component as well :)
Their content delivery system is second to none in the world of MMOs, and thanks to instancing everything, the world can change dynamically according to story elements (although they haven't implemented this anywhere near as much as I'd like them to).
It's a great game, and I'm really looking forward to Eyes of the North.
But the news regarding GW2 has worried me somewhat, what with removal of level caps and getting rid of the skill system.
These two elements are core to what makes GW special, and to remove them kinda misses the point.

My entire family is completely addicted to Guild Wars.
Yes, entire family. Father, Mother (and her sister), brother, and both sisters. All Guild Wars addicts.
(To be fair, my grandmother is not a GW addict...)
And, what the hell, I kind of like it too.
My mother and aunt go questing together almost every night. It's great. My brother is an "Alliance Leader" with maybe a hundred people under him. My father is usually content to just play alone, because he's a micro-managing-perfectionist-O/C-engineer, and doesn't have the patience for other people not having the patience for him. On the other hand, my just-about-to-graduate-college sister and I rarely have time to play it, and the younger sister's been sucked into warcraft. I tease her, asking if her epic mount is really worth fifteen a month.

I've got Nightfall, and I had some fun with it, but I haven't played it for a couple months. But it's sort of the perfect MMO for me, because prior experience has shown that I do go through dry spells with these games, and not having to worry about cancelling/restarting my account every time is great.

They're removing the Level cap and skill system? They were very important for Guild Wars' balanced game play, which is what made me enjoy it more than World of Warcraft, PvP is gonna get destroyed.. which is what the game as mainly about.

Well the skill system sounds like it's getting a huge overhaul for GW2, definitely, and the same PC Gamer article mentions complete removal of a level cap. I wouldn't mind if it meant that your abilities maxed out at 20 but the levels kept counting, but no, they've said that there will be power differences between levels. Kind of a cop out if you ask me, pandering to the power-levelling masses.

Only online game i play somewhat regulary, off and on since Propecies, which is ALOT longer than i spent on any other online game. Playing it less these days coz it got abit stale when i accieved all the goals which i deemed more on the "fun" than on the "boring grind" side. As soon as Eye of the North comes out i suspect those "You played for 5+ hours please take a break" messages to pop up again tho :cheeky:

What is Guild Wars 2.. is it an expansion pack like Burning Crusade for WoW, or can you get it if you already have any Guild Wars games... I might have a reason to reinstall the game :P

It's a whole new title running on a new engine. Won't be released for a couple of years yet.

Wow...3 years since anyone's said peep about GW. Might as well get the ball rolling.
Just wanted to know if any TTLGers still played Guild Wars?, me and a friend started playing and we're having a blast, got me the GW Trilogy with a sweet Steam deal and just bought Eye of the North, so, I was wondering if anyone considered playing with two n00b Mexicans?, we promise to speak English ;)
