$5 USD for a map pack and some extras weapons and vehicles? Nah, this nickel-and-diming bullshit doesn't fly with PC audiences, when it comes to MP content.

*cue in 3 weeks from now where Ubi reports astounding sales and EvaUnit02 kills himself*

Just out of curiosity, how is Far Cry 2? It's half off today on Steam and I was wondering whether it's worth downloading for $15.00.

Five dollars is pretty cheap for all that content. On XBL a four-map COD4 pack costs $10 (more, for Canadians) and you don't get extra weapons or vehicles.
Also: my prediction is that this nickel and dime bullshit is going to fly just fine with PC audiences; as if there's any real difference!

for 15$ i say get it. it's certainly alot of action and a long game. the story/diversity it claims it has is not there and the maps are copy/paste but you'll get your money's worth even if you don't finish it.

This paying-for-games bullshit doesn't fly with PC audiences.

Yeah, let's see you making smart arse quips when or if premium map packs become the norm for PC multiplayer-centric FPSes - dividing communities like what has happened with the the console counterparts.
Oh yeah and the lack of mod support from most developers. Eg the fact that Dawn of War 2 uses Game for Windows Live as its MP infrastructure, pretty much killing any hope of MP-based mods dead in the water.

Not necessarily. While GoW PC isn't supported by Epic any longer, and it uses GFWL, you can create custom maps and play them with the others via List Play. Actually people have a custom map night every 1-2 weekends, and it's fun. So it looks like it's not the GFWL that has to be problematic in this case (in case of GoW is rather the Editor instability and lack of dev support here).

There's a huge difference between user-made levels and mods.
