I know that it's a direct-port with slightly better lighting and water effects, Havok physics, ragdolls and smarter AI. But other than that, is there any point? I'm asking because it's heavily discounted this weekend.
I'm quite content with the original GoldSrc version and I don't make machinima nor stuff around in Garry's Mod.
Thanks in advance.

Honestly, I'd say no. I mean, you've got Black Mesa coming out sometime this year, supposedly, and that's an entire rebuild of Half-Life for today's standards, right?

^ It is, indeed. Yeah, I'd advise against getting HLS as well. The only thing it does is butcher a perfectly good retro fps with half-assed "improvements". It's like when the Transformers cartoon was similarly abused with extra CGI bs to promote that Generation 2 toyline. Stick to the original (and call me elitist, but I'm against the HD pack that came with Blue Shift as well) and just play Black Mesa when it comes out, as it is a proper remake.

I got the Source upgrade automatically when I entered my GOTY number in Steam, thought it was the case for everyone who had the classic game?

Yes, but I'd never bothered to click through to any of the videos before so it hadn't really registered as being a shiny thing.

It certainly is shiny.
Is there an ETA yet cuz that trailer is oldhat now?
