I can count on the fingers of no hands the number of complaints that were made about your recent absence. Posts like that aren't helping.
Is there a point to your post or do you simply own a private beach?

Half-Life 2 was great but it's dated now, thanks to its having been emulated by so many subsequent games. The episodes were basically HL2.1 and 2.2 respectively and, while I enjoyed them, I know that after such a long wait I personally won't be satisfied if Ep. 3 or HL3 or whatever they're making turns out to just be HL2.3.
Honestly though, after the Portal 2 disappointment, L4D2 fiasco, and the reduction of TF2 into hatardery, I can't say my expectations are amazingly high.
Oh what was wrong with Portal 2? I haven't played it yet, but I heard it's a worthy successor to the first, which was quite ingenious in and of itself.
And what is the L4D2 fiasco, do you just mean the nerdrage from them releasing a new game instead of polishing up L4D1 ? Again I didnt get the sequel but from what I've heard it had enough new content to warrant being a sequel in the end.
As for TF2, I agree wholeheartedly and don't really play it anymore, even tho I was big into it back in the vanilla days (and loved TFC way way back too).

Yeah he's smoking crack, Portal 2 is a massive improvement on Portal 1 in every way. Portal 1 is okay for one playthrough but the puzzles are too easy and the comedy isn't funny. It's also very short and feels like a tech demo, which is kind of is. And that fucking song. Of course every time I say something mean about Portal 1 I get stomped on because HOW DARE U but whatever, geek sacred cows etc.. Portal 2 is fantastic however.
L4D2 is a great game as well and if you liked 1, get 2, especially now that all the L4D1 maps are on 2 now.

Oh get stuffed.

I liked Portal 2 more as a game(since it had actual puzzle variety instead of just portals, portals everywhere) but the first one was more consistent presentation-wise(story, etc.).
As for L4D2 it's very different in tone and less "serious", most of the new infected/weapons/items feel added on because they had to add something in the sequel and not because it was actually needed, the game is also generally much easier.

Maybe I'm alone, but I actually enjoyed his response.

How about if I make a point, you are a dumb nut who doesn't give a flying fuck what anyone says. I'm sick of it.

I'll be satisfied as long as it turns out to be as good as Episode 2. I just want my Half-Life already, jesus
THIS.
I can also agree with what Koki says about Portal 1 & 2 and L4D2. I think the first L4D felt a lot neater. 2 felt less balanced somehow.

Knowing the quality of both the first game and Valve's previous games, I expected some new and amazing uses of the portal gun, something that would truly
wow me; instead, I got Portal 1 again with more polish. They added a few new bells and whistles, but the core game was essentially unchanged.
Additionally, the game was piss easy, and I know exactly why: a good puzzle game is a challenging one, but the mass market isn't exactly known for their genius. So they compromised: they kept it a puzzle game, but made the puzzles practically solve themselves. Isn't this the kind of thing to be solved through difficulty settings? Portal 1 actually had this already, with Valve including more difficult versions of the last few chambers, they simply decided to not to do it the second time around. Portal 2 actually
lost a really fucking important feature.
Maybe they'd have the time and money to do something like that if they didn't spend half their damn budget on having half-retarded monkeys play-test their shit.
