I tipped my way out using noise arrows, but CAN the stonies be killed?

This was absolutely the only time in the game that I ever felt like I was challenged. The "waiting game" of the original games had returned, it wasn't just a matter of waiting for a guy to turn around so I could smack him in the back of the head. Those two were walking in a brightly lit area and in patrols that only gave you, literally, only half of a second to get by. After a lot of contemplation, I was able to run right through with only a general "huzzah what" bark from them both.
I believe they can be killed with fire arrows and mines. However, I'm not quite sure, as I didn't try to kill them until a wee bit later. Also, moss arrows will freeze them for a few seconds. They don't slip on oil. Flashbombs blind them. The holy water, it does nothing. They sometimes tip their waitresses.

No. They cannot be killed by any means. Yet. Play for a couple more hours, though, and maybe things will change.

Yes they can. I blew them up with mines, I blew them up with fire arrows. I didn't have trouble in the room as I simply doused the torches. They take a beating but the first 3 can be killed

Well I hit one with a mine and when he didn't even wince I blurted out Holy Crap. That's when I doused the lights and tipped out.

I just worked through that part, on Normal, and found (as said above) that mines and fire arrows kill them. Takes two fire arrows, two mines or one of each. Burning oil also appears to help, but they don't just stand in the burning oil, so it doesn't seem an efficient way to do it. Not sure about harder difficulties until my next playthough. Flashbombs blind them, and moss arrows sticky them in place for quite a few seconds.
Cheers,
Martek

I threw 2 mines into the center of the room and they all wandered over to investigate the sound. BOOM.

Yes, they can be killed on expert difficulty, if you absolutely must sate your desire to see clouds of rumble flying everywhere. I was just curious, so I started pounding them with my extensive supply of fire arrows that I had accumulated. After the first or second arrow all three of them know exactly where you are, so things can get a bit dicey. I started that in that room with 14 fire arrows immediately after the cutscene and left the room with 2. Those things are TANKS!!

The Hammerite mages and Pagan priests can take out the stone creatures too. Pretty effectively to boot. Two shots or something? They can rip them up right quick if they have a meat sheild guard to take a blow or two for them.
Oh, and speaking of which: I once saw a city guard with a bow trying to kill a stone creature after it mashed his buddy. The stone creature just ignored the bowman, then turned and walked away while the guard fired like 50 arrows at it, and then chased it down the street! It was hillarious! :laff:

I busted all of them. The first two I chucked out a mine, and they both were destroyed in the blast (I thought it was sweet, but I didn't realize HOW sweet until a little bit later). Then a third guy ran in, down the stairs, and I had to use two mines on him. The fourth guy stayed in the next room, and I took him with a couple of fire arrows.
The stonies are a bit frightening.
