If you do play any Thief FM's, there is one that is about to be released, around Halloween. It is absolutely fabulous. Testing is about to begin again this weekend. I am not kidding when I say it will be killer, (no pun intended) this FM will be one of the top FM's of all time. Mark my words on that. Its stunning, beautiful, things in this FM, that have not been done before. Its definitely for Halloween. This FM is done by Saturnine.
Some true classics that I love are Undying, and Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines, both cult classics, and superb.

I tried Afraid of Monsters DC but found it meh. I'm still playing Korsakovia, started a bit on Dead Space (so far not scary, just gross), have the Penumbra trilogy waiting, and all five Silent Hill games on the hard drive as well, the fifth finished just last month, the rest waiting for a hardcore no-sleep marathon (possibly excluding 4, since I can't find a way to run it widescreen). (

I was thinking of doing Condemned: Criminal Origins with a dash of Jericho (not really scary, but it's in the mood) and now that you reminded me of it, Scratches will definitely get a run (if only for a certain part that still sends shivers down my spine).
The mentioned V.M. Bloodlines and Undying are great too, definitely Halloween material. Dead Space, Call Of Cthulhu: D.C.o.t.E., The Suffering and the Silent Hill games would be winners as well, not to mention how well Painkiller would go with them as a scary-stress reliever while still being in the mood of Halloween.

Halloween isn't really celebrated over here in Finland but as it happens I am thinking about picking up Alone in the Dark(for 360). It's 6,50€ at play.com. What's the general concencus here? Is it worth playing?

I don't recommend DCoTE. It's heavy-handed with the lovecraftian theme, unfun and buggy as hell.

Yes it's pretty bland without actually knowing a bit of Lovecraftian stuff, but there's a patch (unofficial) that fixes bugs and other things though and offers a configuration menu too, for customizing certain aspects of the game. I know for certain I didn't encounter any bug while playing through the game.

Haven't played it myself, but I heard very bad things about keyboard+mouse controls which kind of put me off from getting it.

Yes, we've got Alone in the Dark, it *could* be a good game, its utter crap with the controls. Waste of money, don't bother. We did play it on the Wii, the controls were crap, ok, we got it on sale for the PC thinking the controls might be better, no, flat out, no. It wasn't any better. It was unimpressive.
The one thing about Vampire Masquerade, it is imperative to get the community patch, as well as the typical patch. The community patch is quite large and addresses many issues within the game. I've played the damn game 5 times, so much fun.
Another game, it was free to DL at the time, *The Suffering* I had a good time with that one.

I think a couple of people here have said it's not a bad game once you get past the controls. I have it myself but haven't actually gotten around to playing it yet (like you, I picked it up very cheaply - in my case, £5 for the Collector's Edition).

Well, good for them to get *past* the controls. How does one go about doing that? It would be like forcing myself to get used to it. I'm already frustrated playing it, I can't be bothered with it to get *past* the controls. I'm just that way. :p;)
