No. You have a shield that depletes and then when its gone, it starts to do permanent damage to your actual health, which is only restored with healing items.
I've only played Halo 1, and that's exactly how it worked. And on legendary, you only got a few seconds before your shield was all gone (depending on the number of enemies, of course).

Is that so? I don't even remember!
Anyway, my point was that you feel much more fragile than in the Halo of old. I spend a lot of time thinking my approach over after getting my ass handed to me than in Halo, and I beat Halo 1/3 on Legendary. So take that as you will.

On the other hand, it brightens my heart to see that, aside from the press and the halo fanboys, the game seems to be getting a very "meh" reception.

From what I've seen of this it's like Halo trying to a FEAR-esque storyline minus the horror.
Got pretty pretty terrible reviews.
Seriously though how long is this series going to go for? It's their new cash cow like Blizzard's WoW.
And Halo fanboys annoy me just as muh as WoW fanboys/girls.

Interestingly enough, the usual ten point gap between IGN and IGN AU's review of a well-hyped title holds true here.

IGN gave it a 9.0, and their reader review average is a 6.6. I find that amusing.
