Hell,
FALLOUT 3 come on!
Fallout 3 wasn't a real FPS.
Point taken on the other two though. I'll amend it with the re-use of the phrase, "
interesting" instead.
Edit: And thank you for the grammar correction, frankly I don't know the grammar rules as well as I should.

Well, 'interesting' isn't a phrase either, so I'll have to agree with you there.

It's in first person and that's enough for my point to be valid.

That actually looks quite interesting. Any idea, if it's a good game?

Huh. I thought the brute in that commercial was CG for sure. Interesting to see it was actually animatronic.

I'm playing through ODST at the moment and the actual "flashback" missions are fairly decent. At first the fragmented Rashomon style storytelling and the narrative framing device employed were mildly compelling, but then the weight of grinding set in. That aside the story itself is poor and characters are paper thin, but that's a given with a Bungie game.
The in-between mission hub is awful. A lazy design decision to pad out a pretty short expansion pack. I'm wandering around this maze of a city (built in the grand Bungie tradition of copy-pasted level design), trying to just get to the next instalment of actual content. I also don't give two shits about the motion comic chronicling the tale of some incredibly thick African girl.
I've realised another key reason why none of the sequels (aside from maybe Reach) are as compelling as Halo 1 from a gameplay standpoint. Combat against the Brutes serves no real challenge at all and thus is pretty dull. They're weak and it's easy to counter their tactics. Contrast them with the Elites, who were pretty challenging, clever opponents. If a Brute are no stronger than your average human, it makes you scratch your head when you consider the series' fiction. WTF were the Prophets in Halo 2 thinking when they ousted the Elites as the core of the Covenant's military and replaced them with the Brutes?
