Resentment hurts brand value, and Microsoft doesn't want to drive away any of the Halo flock.

Halo is the Nickleback of the gaming world. It sucks but people will pay full price for it repeatedly over and over again, and beg for more. We can only hope the backlash that is sure to cripple Nickleback soon will also overtake Halo and we can rest their bodies in shallow graves to be dug up and eaten by wild beasts. Of course, I wished this fate upon Creed and COD too, and look what happened.

Yeah, but avoid Halo 2 & 3. 2 is utterly dire and 3 is incredibly average.
