Sorry, I don't do walkthroughs, and I don't read them. I prefer to suffer.;) Or seek advice on specific problems. Anyone else?
Actually, taffedinthehead, you have gone a long ways, and a little persistence should suffice to finish it. Feel free to pose detailed questions.

I desperately need to find it as I keep getting killed.
Can someone provide me a clue as to where it is?

I don't remember. I'd have to replay the mission to check. I have no time to do that now. I can say that I had to go many places before I found the sword. A lot of sneaking is involved. I remember one place with
hammerites at the center of a room and shadows radiating out like spokes.
I had to sneak around in that area. My earliest save is at 0:46. I did not have it then. My next save is at 2:46, and I had the sword at that point. I guess that I did not have the sword at 2:00.
Maybe someone else will come to the rescue. I need to play it again and take notes. Maybe I do need to make a walkthrough, to refresh my own memory at least.;)

Annnnnnnnnnnnnd . . . BANG, it's over! That was weird! All that searching and build-up and that's it!?
Anyway, once I remembered the key I picked up on the table in the courtyard where the haunts first appear, the rest was pretty easy (relatively speaking) to complete.

Bobber - here is some general advice:
You pretty much should be able to make your way to where the haunts first appear (triggered by picking up the medalion in the room beneath the well. In that same courtyard there was a key on a table in the middle. Take that key back to the room where you could go any of four directions, and use it on the lock in the gazebo in the middle of the room (next to a switch that opened a different door). After using the key, follow the new door and you should make your way to a lava pit with a raised drawbridge. Keep on heading that direction and you will find some elevators that should lead you to the sword.
Let me know if I remembered wrong. This level isn't impossible, it just takes ALOT of patience!!

Taffedinthehead is correct about the sword. I just replayed it, taking notes. I should be more responsive with future questions.
Yes, taffedinthehead, that is it. All that searching, and you simply get to the end. It's kind of a let down. Still, I have played it three times now, and I have enjoyed the game play and exploration each time. Since I know about the let down, it is not so much of a let down anymore. :)

Making progress. Found the sword ok. Now I have used the
keeper's key to unlock the lock below the statue sitting in the fountain
. But what did it unlock? I listened carefully but heard nothing open. Geez this is a hard one.
Also, do I need to get the
fire talisman
way up high on the statue above the doors?
smithpd on 20/6/2006 at 05:14
The Keeper's key unlocks two things.
The lock by the statue opens a secret door behind a banner in a chapel.

The key also opens a gate near the beginning.
The talisman
is not something you get.

It is something you shoot.
It will become clear later. You are close to the end.
